This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Beverly Roth Fuller.

Beverly Roth Fuller, age 79, passed away peacefully October 1, 2020 due to complications from a hip fracture. She was born July 17, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri to Russell and Marie Kruse.

Beverly is survived by her three children and their partners Anne Roth and Joey Thorn, Margot Dahl and Tom DeVoe, Michael and Rachelle Roth; grandchildren Katherine Thorn, Rebecca Roth and Griffin Roth. All of which she loved dearly.

Beverly most recently was a Professor of Finance at Portland State University from 1987 – 2016, and a Senior Fulbright Scholar at the Khabarovsk State Academy of Economics and Law in Russia.

She loved to travel, visiting over 32 countries with an appreciation for their people, culture, art, and architecture. The country she particularly enjoyed was Russia, teaching in the eastern city of Khabarovsk and traveling the cities of western Russia.

Beverly held a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Mathematics from Webster University, Masters in Regional Planning from the University of Michigan, M.B.A and a PhD in Finance both from Virginia Tech.

Beverly worked as a Radiochemist at Princeton University, Research Assistance at the University of Michigan, Environmental Planner, Community Planner, and Political Campaign Manager in Michigan. While working on her dissertation she worked as a graduate teaching assistant, lecturer and instructor at Virginia Tech. As a Professor she contributed to publications, completed research and grants, and led several dissertation committees.

Beverly enjoyed teaching and established long term relationships with many of her students. She designed and taught an on-line Finance course for many years before virtual learning was mainstream.

She had many close friends within the Russian community in Portland, Oregon. She took great joy in their deep and lasting friendships. It kept her fulfilled as her desire never stopped to learn more of and connect with people of Russia including taking as many trips as possible.

During her life she enjoyed the outdoors and beauty of the natural world. She loved hiking and backpacking in the mountains, the beauty of the Oregon coast, the preservation of wildlife around the world. As everyone who knew her would also attest, she had a keen eye and appreciation of architecture and interior design. This was evident in the two contemporary homes she built on Terwilliger Drive, Portland, Oregon.

Beverly did not want a memorial service which may risk the health of others, so please share a memory of her with our family and look through photos of her life on this site. Her request to her children is that they scatter her ashes in a wildflower field high up in the Colorado mountains in a private family celebration of her life.

Dear Anne, Margot, and Mike! Your Mother and I were friends and colleagues when in the Russian Far East. Beverly taught classes at the American Russian Center (ARC) I managed in Khabarovsk, and she also secured grants to travel to adjoining regions to train entrepreneurs. Beverly visited me in Seattle, and I visited her in Portland and saw her home on Terwilliger. She was very kind to me, always talked about you all, and she did all she could to support the business and banking community that was developing at that time in Russia. I have many photos of Beverly teaching and would be so happy to pass some of those on to you. Kind regards, Nancy Luther

Beverly lived in the same tower as I, at The Strand. I greatly miss our chance encounters, riding the elevator or getting the mail. I’ll always remember the glint in her eyes as we spoke. I knew that she was brilliant, but I wish I had known all of the accomplishments mentioned in the obituary! She touched me with her warmth. I was sad to hear of her passing, and I am sending your whole family my sincere sympathy.

Anne, Margot, Mike:
I was sorry to hear of your mother's passing.  I was a student of hers at PSU in the late 1990s and have wonderful memories of your mother. Not only was she my professor, but she was also my friend as she was to so many of her students.  I will be forever grateful for her friendship and influence on my life.

My deepest condolences for you loss.

Dear Anne, Margot, and Mike:

I was one of Beverly's colleagues at the SBA of PSU, and I'm so sorry to learn of her passing. While her resume is astonishing, it's really no surprise: Beverly was a force of nature and an incredibly successful professor. Beverly left an indelible legacy of creativity and academic excellence at PSU. It was truly a gift to work in the orbit of someone so accomplished, and I am grateful for her brilliance and her friendship.

My sympathies are with all of you...

Although I was Beverly's care giver for only a year, I became very fond of her.
She was loving, caring, generous & so interesting as she shared her many adventures.
When I met you, Anne, Margo & Michael, I could see the same qualities as you lovingly cared for your mother.
She was so proud of you three & often told me so.
I regret that I came into Beverly's life as a senior, but so grateful that our paths met & will always carry her love in my heart.
My deepest condolences to you & your family. Beverly will be truly missed.

Dear Anne,

I am so so very sorry to hear of the passing of your Mom. She sounded like such an amazing woman. I am sorry I never had the opportunity to meet her, but I can see the legacy she leaves behind in you, and all that you are... I will look forward to watching her legacy grow through you in the years to come, as you pass her legacy on to your own children and they pass it on to theirs...I hope to catch up with you in the coming weeks after things settle down, but know in the interim you and your family will be in my thoughts. Much Love, T

Music: Cristofori's Dream

October 8, 2020
Dear Margot and siblings,
Deepest condolences from Dennis and Karen.
This is Karen's message to each of you.  Music.  This music in the UTube video I attached was written and performed by David Lanz and called "Cristofori’s Dream".
May it bring you some comfort during this time. Music can say more than words for me so this is my tribute to your wonderful mother, Beverly.
I feel connected to her through music as she was such a great supporter of the music I shared in several performances that she attended. She dressed up, put on a smile and fancy clothes and showed up. Then she stayed after to encourage me.  She was the perfect audience!  I was honored by her presence in my life during her short time here in the Tucson area.
Please help me out by getting the video onto the Online Memorial. I want it done correctly and trust that you can do it for me, if you desire.
Peace to Beverly and her brilliant children,
Karen and (for) Dennis

I am so sorry to hear of Beverly's passing.  We lived in the same building and I saw her frequently in passing.  I went down to her condo and helped her one time when she was working with a medical apparatus.  She was so generous as she made a donation to my family's charity.  I first met her and helped guide her to the storage area and it was right next to mine.  When she called me to say she was moving to Phoenix I was so surprised.  I called and spoke to her shortly after that and I have thought I should check and see how she was doing.

Very lovely woman and she will be missed.
