This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Beverly Roth Fuller.
Beverly Roth Fuller, age 79, passed away peacefully October 1, 2020 due to complications from a hip fracture. She was born July 17, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri to Russell and Marie Kruse.
Beverly is survived by her three children and their partners Anne Roth and Joey Thorn, Margot Dahl and Tom DeVoe, Michael and Rachelle Roth; grandchildren Katherine Thorn, Rebecca Roth and Griffin Roth. All of which she loved dearly.
Beverly most recently was a Professor of Finance at Portland State University from 1987 – 2016, and a Senior Fulbright Scholar at the Khabarovsk State Academy of Economics and Law in Russia.
She loved to travel, visiting over 32 countries with an appreciation for their people, culture, art, and architecture. The country she particularly enjoyed was Russia, teaching in the eastern city of Khabarovsk and traveling the cities of western Russia.
Beverly held a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Mathematics from Webster University, Masters in Regional Planning from the University of Michigan, M.B.A and a PhD in Finance both from Virginia Tech.
Beverly worked as a Radiochemist at Princeton University, Research Assistance at the University of Michigan, Environmental Planner, Community Planner, and Political Campaign Manager in Michigan. While working on her dissertation she worked as a graduate teaching assistant, lecturer and instructor at Virginia Tech. As a Professor she contributed to publications, completed research and grants, and led several dissertation committees.
Beverly enjoyed teaching and established long term relationships with many of her students. She designed and taught an on-line Finance course for many years before virtual learning was mainstream.
She had many close friends within the Russian community in Portland, Oregon. She took great joy in their deep and lasting friendships. It kept her fulfilled as her desire never stopped to learn more of and connect with people of Russia including taking as many trips as possible.
During her life she enjoyed the outdoors and beauty of the natural world. She loved hiking and backpacking in the mountains, the beauty of the Oregon coast, the preservation of wildlife around the world. As everyone who knew her would also attest, she had a keen eye and appreciation of architecture and interior design. This was evident in the two contemporary homes she built on Terwilliger Drive, Portland, Oregon.
Beverly did not want a memorial service which may risk the health of others, so please share a memory of her with our family and look through photos of her life on this site. Her request to her children is that they scatter her ashes in a wildflower field high up in the Colorado mountains in a private family celebration of her life.
