Hard to believe it has been 10 years without you.
In Memory
"It broke our hearts to lose you,
but you did not go alone.
A part of us went with you,
the day God took you home.
If tears could build a stairway,
and heartaches make a lane,
we'd walk our way to heaven,
and bring you back again.
In life we loved you dearly,
in death we love you still,
in our hearts you hold a place
no one could ever fill."

Happy Birthday, Bill.
Thank you for being such a good friend when I was a newbie in Japan. And I really enjoyed our time together calling the NFL games on satellite TV in 1998.
You are in our memories, buddy.

Wow, you've been gone for three years and today you would be 59. You never realize what an affect your life has until there is a missing piece.  You have left two amazing daughters who will bless many others. A day to celebrate the day of your birth and reflect on all you contributed.

I didn't know you have passed away.
You and I are same birthday, same age and had same favorites.
I deeply regret your soul went far away.
I want to see you again on the Waikiki Beach in the next world.
Just like in summer 1978.

Don't know why I am thinking of you so much lately.....guess that just happens sometimes. My son's are all Spartans, the little boys play Big 10 rugby...you would have had a riot with them and they with you...my baby is in international relations and Ben is biomechanical engineering...they both have your wanderlust and are happiest when traveling and meeting new people and cultures, you were a role model for them even though you never had a chance to meet them...peace... and love"big" brother. XOXO

Bill was a good friend and connector who helped me find my two first jobs in Japan back in the 80s. I had the pleasure of meeting Bill at the 1985 Japan Open Racquetball Tournament where he was kind enough to give me his contact information and a kind "If I can ever be of help, give me a call." I took Bill up on that offer a few months later when I made the decision to live in Japan for "a year or two at most." Bill promptly followed through with an interview at a new English Conversation School that was opening up outside of Tokyo. I was promptly hired and spent two years teaching English and living in Hanno-shi in Saitama Prefecture. When I grew tired of teaching and sought to break out of the teaching world, Bill stepped up to the plate again, locating for me a job with a travel trade magazine. That job led to a long stay in Japan, one that I really owe to Bill. He also was gracious to provide me with discount prices on my racquetball gear. One of my fondest memories of Bill was the time we found ourselves in the studio of PerfecTV, calling NFL football play-by-play in Japanese! What a fun gig that was!
I miss Bill much and hope his family has been able to cope with their loss these past two years.

Hard to believe it's already been one year:
There is always a face before me,
A voice I would love to hear,
A smile I will always remember,
Of a brother I loved so dear.
Deep in my heart lies a picture,
More precious than silver or gold,
It's a picture of my brother,
Whose memory will never grow old.

I grew up with Bill in Muskegon, Michigan. Was facebook and twitter friends with him and wondering why he had not talked to me lately. I am greatly saddened by this, as he loved sports and we shared this love. He always took the MSU side and I the UM side. Sorry to hear this, and my heart goes out to Nancy and Mom and Dad. We had not seen each other since we were 14, but remembered.

I remember going to Kenyan one winter with my mother, June Winberg, Bill's Aunt. We wanted to meet Bill's new wife from Japan and take them a wedding gift. Yuriko was absolutely charming and beautiful. Bill was a friendly, big sports fan. We liked them instantly. We wished them much happiness and hoped to see them again one day. I wish the Marklevits family comfort and peace.God bless you.

Bill lived next door to us in Muskegon. He was Billy then, a great kid and playmate for years. He grew into a good man, spreading the same joy that he did as a child. The world is smaller without him. I wish Gene, Gail, Nancy, Steve, Yuriko, Janet, Jenny and his friends peace in memories, and a heightened sense of graitude for having William B. Marklevits grace their lives. jodi walukonis

My brother, Bill, passed away from a heart attack at his hotel in Indianapolis on March 10, 2012. He was in Indianapolis to photograph the Big Ten Basketball Tournament. Few people manage to pack all of their favorite things into one short lifetime as well as Bill. His friends around the world as well as his family will sorely miss him.

I have many fond memories of you, my friend. I remember meeting you at the Japan Open in 1985 where your great Japanese skills motivated me to learn the language. I remember you finding me my first job in Japan at a new school in Saitama. You followed up with finding me my 2nd job when I grew tired of teaching English. And your help with discounted Ektelon racquetball gear was so greatly appreciated when I was young and on a limited budget. And then there was the 1998 NFL season where we got to do color commentary on PerfecTV - a great season for two Vikings fans to be commentating on football games. Anyway, Bill - I want to thank you for your friendship. You left us too early. I pray that your family and friends will find comfort despite the great loss.
