My fun-loving brother

April 21, 2021
Although Bill and I were 12 years apart in age, we shared the same warped sense of humour.  This photo, of Bill, myself, our sister Gladys and our Mother Tony, illustrates our close family ties.  We didn't live near each other, but were close in other ways and saw each other as often as possible.  My wife and I will miss him dearly.

Our memories of Bill start in Victoria  with a trip with Scott and Kathy over New Years. We were invited to stay at Bill and Eileen's and were treated royally. Dinner and breakfast were amazing and served with flare. I remember watching Bill and Eileen put up their unique Christmas tree. Later I was privileged to have lunch at their home with the Mennonite girls  and once as a special guest at a luncheon honouring their daughter in law Kathy. Bill was a big part of each occasion, and was at Eileen's side, helping with the meal and being an attentive host. I remember Bill as a kind and loving man, a real gentleman.
Our condolences you, Eileen, Scot, Kathy and the whole family.

Dido loved god. He always prayed for us and he loved us so much. When we went over he would often tell us great hunting stories. I remember that he would always be waiting for us to come and visit. He was a great great grandpa. I will always miss him.

My Father in law -Bill

April 16, 2021
Bill and I go back many years before he became my father in law. My family attended Central Baptist Church in Victoria and the McLellan family moved to Victoria and began to attend our church. I soon became good friends with their daughter Holly. We went to Pioneer Girls club together and then on to youth group. Her brother Scot and I started to date in those years and I spent a lot of time in their home. "Mr Mac" always made me feel so welcome. He was managing Murchies Tea and Coffee those years and he hired me to work in the Fort Street location where we worked side by side. "Mr McLellan" was a fare and good boss, and made work days fun.
In 1977 Scot and I were engaged and got married, Bill became my father in law...."Dad".
He  welcomed me into the family and treated me so kindly. He was a respectful man with a good character, a good sense of humour and a deep commitment to Christ. In 1979 he became a grandpa. He loved all of his grandchildren so much and I know he prayed for each of them till he went to Heaven. In 2005 he became a great grandpa. His heart was full of love for all those little great grandkids who call him Dedo. It was never hard to see the joy and his eyes light up at the mention of any of his grand kids or great grandkids. Thanks Dad for being a man of integrity. For loving and accepting me. I'll think of you often when I see a rose. PS  We will take good care of mom, and so will Jesus and many others.

Fishing

April 16, 2021
I think it was 2009/2011 . Scot ,Bill and I went to peg leg bar on the Fraser to go fishing. Close to Larry and Lorraine's Baliskys hobby farm.  At peg leg it gets very busy and we  wanted Bill to have some space so Bill didn't have to "combat fish" with all the other fisherman.  Scot drove  through a dugout to the top where there there were less people and primarily fly fisherman with lots of space so you could fish and not gett hooked up with others.  After about an hr , Bill had slipped and got his back side wet.  The beach was being hit with the water with the jet boats going by.   After about 30 min of being wet Bill was done and wanted to go home.  I on the the other hand was having my single greatest day of fishing for pinks, ever.  I had 2 does in my kill hole and was into 35 pinks in under 2 hrs. I'll never forget it.  Scot said Bill was done so I was getting ready to clean my fish and noticed one got swept back out with the rising water. So I went for another pink . Landed it and started cleaning it , when Bill was yelling from the truck  to hurry up as he was soaking wet.  Everytime I think about that day , I will always remember and appreciate that a great grandpa was in his mid 80's still fishing still chasing that better day. Well Bill, I hope you get to fish and hunt in heaven and that every day will be your best day. Miss you and Love you.
