William “Bill” North moved on to the Lord, unexpectedly, May 19th at 9:00am at the VA Hospital in Tucson. Bill was surrounded by his children Matthew (Andrea) North, Katharine (Dewey Ehman) North, Michelle (Marcello) Ortuste and Elizabeth (Matthew) Tipton. Bill joins his mother, Katharine Hentig North (2003) and father, Francis Sparling North (1996).
William is also survived by his wife, Joyce (Fisk) North of Kirkland, WA, his step-daughter Raven Radloff, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. William’s siblings remain here with us, Peter (Helen) North, John (Mary) North, and twin and youngest sibling, Mary (Roger) Allen.
William was born in Southampton, NY, and lived with his family throughout childhood at the Episcopal Seminary Nashotah House in WI. The family returned to Sag Harbor, NY when he was 10 years old. Bill traveled to Tucson, AZ in 1961 to attend the University of Arizona where he received a Masters of Public Administration. William met his first wife and mother of his children, Carla (Stevenson) North at the U of A. Bill flew over 200 missions in Vietnam as a Navigator Bombardier and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross twice as well as the Purple Heart among other honors. After resettling in Tucson, Bill transitioned from accounting into the construction industry where he was able to work with his hands and enjoy the act of creating homes and building beautiful spaces. On June 12, 1985 he became a life-long friend of Bill W. and the 12-Step Program.
William touched many lives with his kindness, rambling stories, eagerness to share a handyman tip, willingness to lend a helping hand, and genuine desire to see the people around him grow. If able, please join us for his Memorial Service on June 13, 2018 at 4:00pm at his favorite place to serve as Acolyte, St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 545 S. 5th Avenue, Tucson, AZ, with a reception to follow.</span>

If your family ever wants to come see it again just let us know. We are very proud of Bill's job. We always think of Bill as the best. Also, thanks Matt for your help with the drawings and the family for your participation.
Bill was wonderful with his desire to only remove the necessary plant life.
Thanks for using our backyard picture. Come over if you want to do a full picture of the project 19 years later.
Sincerely,
Bruce Subeck
He was a Sequoia in our grove;
avast silence after falling
caught unaware--a giant of the forest
this loss profound.
Condolences to the family.
