William “Bill” Henry Steele, 86, a former resident of Butner and longtime resident of Granville County passed away Saturday, April 7th at Brantwood Nursing Center in Oxford.
A native of Durham County the son of the late Henry James and Esther Louise Ladd Steele. He was a navy veteran of WWII , a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Henderson, loved working in woodcrafts and retired from Nello Teer.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 11th at Sharon Baptist Church by Rev. Vernon Wilkerson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Surviving are his wife of 17 years, Louise Evelyn Bowen, two daughters, Billie Steele Claiborne(Danny) , Cheryl Steele Dean(Donnie) all of Oxford, a step-son, Dwayne Griffin(Pam) of Oxford, three grandchildren, Bryan Jones, Jessica and Jessie Englebright, step-grandchildren, Robert and Edward Griffin and Leanne Griffin. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lucinda Hobgood and two sisters, Phyllis Fields and Mary Green.

Visitation 7:00-8:30 PM Tuesday evening , April 10th 2012 at the Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford and at other times at the home of his daughter, Billie Claiborne, 3578 Goose Run, Oxford, NC 27565.
Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford is assisting the Steele family.
