Bill traded his Eagle wings for Angel wings on January 10th, 2019 at the age of 71. He began his new journey peacefully while surrounded by family.

He was a longtime resident of Lindsay who worked for BJ’s Construction until fully retiring in 2012. He spent the last several years in the care of his sister, Saundra Vinson and her late husband, Dick E. Vinson.

He was born on October 2nd, 1947 and was the only boy of five children. His sisters say as a young boy he was a closet singer who liked to do woodburning and leather crafting. He loved to do anything outdoors and enjoyed skating and playing “Cowboys”. He once expressed a desire to become a Private Investigator.

Bill enlisted in the US Army in August 1965 and served 2 tours in Vietnam as part of the 1st Cavalry Division and the 67th Armored Division. After returning home, he married Jimmie Gail Whaley on June 4th, 1969.

He passed his love for the outdoors and his passion for fishing on to his children, grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. His favorite “secret” fishing spot was the Pink Mailbox. His grandson, Brandon Sitton, said he told him he fished all day once and didn’t catch anything but just as he was about to leave a bird swooped down and scooped up a bass right in front of him. If he wasn’t taking you fishing he was telling you a fishing story.

Bill was easy-going and quiet. He never met a stranger and was always looking for a way to make people laugh and have fun. He was the first one to lend a hand and tried to help everyone when possible. He was an inspiration, hero, and example to many of his family and friends. Bill was one-of-a-kind. He was the best Daddy, Poppee, Brother, and Uncle Bill in the whole world. He will be greatly missed.

Surviving family includes his children: William Lawson Sitton, Jimmie Sue Purselley and husband Melvin, Sherry Lynn Deason, Misty Dawn Mitchell and husband Jerry. Grandchildren: Brandon Jacob Sitton and wife Kristina, Zoey Alexis Sitton, Austin Chase Sitton, Hayley Marie Sitton, Holly Gail Sitton, His partner in crime: Tiffany Rose Bruce and husband Brayden, Jacobi Lynn Painter and husband Alan, Kaitlyn Mishell Roberts and fiancé Wade Carroll, Candice Lynn Thomason and husband Michael, Bryan Lee Adair and wife Rayna, Namesake: Christopher Dewayne Adair and wife Shena, Meghan Chantal Stumpf and husband Derrek, Morgan Shelyn Wagner and husband Max, Macey James Zachary and husband Colten, M’ly Paige Werner and husband Pascal. There will be no service at this time. Bill chose to donate his body to medical research and asked that family and friends not mourn his passing. Please remember him fondly the next time you’re enjoying the great outdoors or hook the big one!

It's freezing

January 16, 2019

so the same weekend we went to lake Murray, we decided we were going to go night fishing off a bridge. It was so cold. Ain't no fish coming after our bait in that water. We were out there for so long I couldn't feel my toes, my fingers or my nose. I wasnt going to call it quits first and neither was daddy. We kept looking at each other but not saying anything. Just hoping the other one would give in first. Finally he looked at me and said damn I can't heel my toes so I said ok u big baby let's go back to the camper. Really I was thinking thank god he called it. When we got our gear back in the truck we opened our worms to see if there were enough left to save and I shit you not they were sticking straight up in the dirt like tooth picks. Frozen solid.

Who's the parent?

January 16, 2019

about 15 years ago we went camping at Lake Murray. It was the freaking middle of november. Someone had a craft show so daddy and I decided we would go and fish. It was so cold and the wind was blowing really hard. There were huge flat rocks, like 6 feet across big. The wind was blowing  the lake water over the top of them. It sounded like ocean waves crashing. I tried to step on one of the rocks to cast my line from there. Just about busted my butt. Daddy had been having alot of problems with his back then, so I told him DO NOT GET ON THESE ROCKS YOU WILL BUST YOUR ASS. he said yes ma'am! !!!! A few minutes later I turned my back for just a second to get bait and I here the sound someone makes when they have fallen and all the air has been knocked out of them. I knew before I turned around what had happened and sure enough there he was laid out flat on his back on one of those rocks. I first asked if he was ok and when he said yes I proceefed to ask him what the hell he thought he was doing. I said I told you to stay off the rocks. He said wait a minute, who's the parent here?
