Mom's Life

June 4, 2012

Mom was born in Mexico on December 9, 1934 to George Morgan and Blanca Micaella Ibarra Morgan.  She met my dad through my Uncle arthur who worked for the Southern Pacific Rail Road where my dad was employed and they were married on 30 September 1957.  Mom became an instant mother to my sister and I, because our mother Ellen had passed away on the 15th of Feb 1956 at the young age of 21 leaving us motherless.  It had to be very difficult for a young newlywed to become an instant mother to a child of two and half and a baby, but mom held to the task lovingly and eventually had two more children to love, James Allen Carpenter B:18 Jul 1959 D:30 May 1984 and Nancy Jean Carpenter B:25 Jul 1960.  Our family lived in Richmond, California until around 1962 when we moved to Fremont, California in the Niles area.  While in Richmond mom was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church and a member of the choir, in which she sang Saprano.  She took us children to church regularly, and I marveled at her beautiful voice as she sang out above all in the choir.  Mom was mainly a homemaker, because she had four little ones under foot, but she did some babysitting back then for others also.   After we moved to Fremont, mom found another Southern Baptist church for us to attend and become members of and continued to love and nurture us kids.  After we all had grown enough mom went to work.  Years later she volunteered her services to Tri-Valley Volunteers.  In 1984 mom and dad lost their only son James Allen and on 20 February 1999 my dad passed away.  Following the passing of my father my mom moved to Vacaville, Calif. for a few years and then moved out to Orange Park, Florida to be closer to us children.  Mom leaves  a legacy of love and devotion to us three daughters myself - Frieda Bronken, and Linda Froehlich, and Nancy Hobbs; seven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. She is further survived by her sisters Maria Clark and Olivia Marcus; and brothers David, Jorge, and Quito Morgan. She also had a brother Carlos who has passed.
