I left the hospital with empty arms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And somehow, the world did not stop. Everything outside continued as if nothing had changed. People moved, conversations continued, life carried on. But inside me, something had ended and something else had begun that I did not yet have words for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There is a silence that follows infant loss that is difficult to explain. It is not only the absence of a child, but the absence of all the imagined moments that were already growing inside a mother\u2019s heart. People often do not know what to say, so they say very little. But silence can feel heavy when you are the one living inside the grief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My motherhood did not begin in that hospital room. It began long before that, in a pregnancy that was not easy, where I carried not only a growing life, but also emotional weight that I did not always understand or know how to name. There were days I felt overwhelmed, struggling within myself while still trying to hold on to hope for the life inside me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And then he came into the world fragile, fighting and deeply loved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From that moment, my life changed completely. I was no longer just living for myself. Every decision, every prayer, every breath felt connected to him. My body, my time, my heart everything belonged to his survival and his life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He stayed. He lived. And he existed in this world in ways that only a mother fully understands. Thirteen months is not a small space of time when you are the one loving, caring, waking, worrying and hoping every single day. It is a lifetime of attachment, of learning him, of becoming his mother in the deepest sense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And then, he was gone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And I was left holding a life that the world could not see anymore, but that I still carry in every part of me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Grief like this is often misunderstood. People may think that because a child is small or young, the pain should also be small. But love does not work in measurements. The depth of love creates the depth of grief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So I want to say this gently, but clearly:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If you have ever lost a child, your grief is not too much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Your love is not too small to matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And your motherhood does not end because the world cannot see your child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I am still his mother. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I carry him in memory, in silence, in breath, in everything I am becoming.
