It was an honor to know Bobbe. She was truly an amazing person.  She taught me to appreciate every minute of every day. We had the connection of living in Saudia Arabia and sharing that unique time. Her memorial was a tribute to her fighting spirit and giving nature. I will wear the bracelet she made, and gifted to me by Jacki and Donnie with pride and rememberance. May you rest in peace, lovely lady.

My sincere sympathy to you Don and Jacki. Bobbe was a beautiful lady, I enjoyed getting together with her, if it was for shopping going to lunch or a appointment. Though out her illness she was a fighter and a very spiritual person too! I will miss Bobbe's friendship very much.

Sincerely,
Mary Clos

Bobbe and I have known each other since grade school. We had a lot of the same memories growing up with great classmates. In High School we became a unified district and welcomed more incredible classmates/friends who became known as the Class of 1970. Memories have been flooding while looking forward to our 50th Reunion. Oh, I'm sad not to have hugged and laughed with Bobbe one more time. We had fun times...Playing pool in between classes at HCJC, making Screwdriver in the back seat of her folk's car (I was in charge of the orange juice) on our way to Sabetha's tournament with Hiawatha. We were college age and don't remember who was driving, because Bobbe and I were the bartenders. At the tournament we sat in the middle of Sabetha fans and cheered for Hiawatha. We always laughed so hard when we were together. She was fearless! So blessed to have had you in my life.

Bobbe was good friend and I will miss her. We have know each other since the 70's. I have a lot of great memories, lot of laughs. With all her travels we always kept in contact. A few years ago we went to Disneyland together and acted like two kids, stayed the whole day and evening. She love to shop, full of energy. She love Don and her daughter Jackie.
I know that she is at rest now and will be watching over all of us.

Like DeAun mentioned, staying with Aunt Bobbe and Uncle Donnie was always a good time. When we were younger, we would stay with them on weekends once in awhile. Uncle Donnie was working at the airport so Aunt Bobbe would come up with fun things for us to do. My most vivid memory was when they lived in an apartment in Kansas City. It was on the 2nd floor and had a balcony with sliding glass doors. Uncle Donnie was at work one night, and we had Aunt Bobbe convinced that there was a werewolf on the balcony. She really believed us and even had all of us run down the stairs to the parking lot to get away. We were laughing so much when we told her it wasn't real. She never got mad and just laughed along with us. She was the one that gave us cookie dough and cake batter to eat, because she didn't know how to bake them. She also thought we should have wine with our spaghetti because that's how they did it in Italy...it didn't matter that I was around 7 years old. I was also the flower girl in their wedding. She was such a crack up and always had a smile on her face. She will be dearly missed.

Bobbe was special!  In her youth, Bobbe was so joyful and fun-loving - full of confidence, poise and grace. My favorite memory was her out front of the HHS band in her Majorette uniform. Bobbe was courageous and obviously lived her life to the fullest with her many international travels and adventures with Donnie. Her courage and strength carried her through her pain and suffering these last 18 month as evidenced by her FaceBook postings. Bobbe was indeed special, and she will be missed greatly!

When my cousin and I was young, we would go stay with Aunt Bobbie and Uncle Donnie in Kansas City. We had so much fun. We swam, shopped, played on the phone ( Aunt Bobbe’s idea) and the famous cookie dough for dinner. It seems most visits ended with a complete family trip to World of Fun. Thank you for all the fun and great memories. You will be missed, but live on in our memories and hearts.

I met Bobbe for the first time when were partnered as volunteers at the concierge desk at Solera. Bobbe was a wonderful concierge. She had done this job before when Pulte was still selling homes in Solera. We joked that this must be Petticoat Junction, since she was Bobbe Jo and I was Mary Jo. We always had fun at the concierge desk, at dances, lunches and shopping. And won't forget the fun night on her and Don’s patio when Bobbe made chocolate martinis.
I will miss her terribly. She really loved life and lived it to the fullest.

I met Bobbe in High School. She taught me a great deal. She will always be that beautiful tall girl who took many of us under her wing and lifted us up.  I have kept the friendship bracelet she gave me many years ago. God has welcomed her home.

I met Bobbe 62 years ago, when my family moved to Hiawatha. We were very close until high school. Bobbe was a year ahead of me in school due to birthdays, hers in December & mine in January. Sometimes I went on her family vacations cause she didn't want to go as an only child. Bob & Jo were like extended family in those days.
I remember when she decided that she needed to get baptized so she went to the First Christian Church up the street from our houses and requested that the minister baptize her. Which he did. She didn't tell her parents until it was done. Though Bobbe didn't attend many church gatherings, I know that she knew Jesus as her Lord & Savior.
Not sure how old we were, neither of us had a license. But one day, while Jo was golfing and Bob was working, we took the white Cadillac out for a spin. North of town we took out a stop sign, got back on the road only to top the next hill I find her dad & Uncle Jim in a field with a farmer. We hurried home, not to do that again.
We learned how to make Chocolate Chip cookies at an early age. I still make them the same way. Bob always wanted a lot of chips per cookie, so we used 2 pkgs of chips per batch.
One of the big highlights of youth was when her Aunt (Caka) Carol came to town driving a Periwinkle Blue sports car. We thought that was something fantastic!
Our lives took us in different directions but we always managed to keep in touch. I miss you my dear friend.
Peace & comfort to Jacki & Don.

I’m so sorry for your loss, my heart is broken for you and your dad.
From my first meeting of, Bobbe I felt her energy and saw her aura as beautiful and lively as she. With open arms and heart she welcomed me into her family. Her love of life, laughter and adventure were contagious. Her courage and tenacity were inspiring and they never wavered. She was truly larger than life here and she’s shining brightly on all the lives she’s touched.
A bright star was born when she left us but she gave us a gift of beauty and awe to gaze upon and reflect.
Love does transcend all and, Bobbe’s love will be felt by us all.
I embrace her gifts she left us and I celebrate her life. Bobbe, forever in my heart and memories.,

So sorry for your family’s loss. Bobbe has left a great legacy of friends and faith. One year at one of our high school class reunions in Hiawatha, I remember the room seemed to brighten when Bobbe and Don arrived. I enjoyed the conversation I had that night with Bobbe. She will be missed very much at our reunion in 2021.

My family and I met Bobbe in 1986 when we all lived in Jeddah Saudi Arabia together. Our friendship formed quickly as my girls and Jacki were in school together and played together as children. We shared popcorn, shopping and even faraway shopping trips together in Seoul Korea as well as shopping for gold and jewelry in Jeddah and many lunches together downtown near the gold souk.  We loved to color our hair and shared our hair color we hauled over from the states. Those were great days.
After returning from overseas we remained good friends over the years sharing many memories of our days in Saudi Arabia together and discussed our girls and all the happenings of our lives here, shared make up tips and even though we were miles apart , our friendship remained strong up until her passing. She called me a few weeks ago and we did our usual chatting and I told her how much I had wanted to visit in the spring and of course Covid prevented that. She was a beautiful lady inside and out and a friend I will greatly miss and I will always cherish the memories of a lifelong friendship and send my love to Jacki and Don!

Don't think of her as gone away
Her journey has just begun
Life holds many facets
The Earth is only one

Just think of her as resting
From the sorrows and the tears
In a place of warmth and comfort
Where there are no days and years

Think how she must be wishing
That we could know today
How nothing but our sadness
can really pass away

And think of her as living
In the hearts of those she touched
For nothing loved is ever lost
And she was loved so much!

Our thoughts and prayers are with you both during this difficult time. Love Rocky & Sharon

God saw you getting tired
and a cure was not to be
so he put his arms around you
and whispered, "Come to Me".

With tearful eyes we watched you
and saw you pass away
and although we love you dearly
we could not make you stay.

Her Life

Bobbe's Story

June 16, 2020
Her journey began on December 26th, 1952 in Horton, Kansas (she always hated that her birthday was the day after Christmas, so my father and I always made sure to make a big deal; separate presents and cake). Bobbe was an only child and some of you know that she was born Barbara Jo after her parents – Robert (Bob) and Mary Josephine (Jo). Having been called Bobbe all her life, she had it legally changed many years later.

Bobbe grew up in Hiawatha KS; a farming town where her father owned an Allis Chalmers dealership. Bobbe grew up a tomboy, playing flag football and softball (imagine her shock when her only child was not interested in these sports; don’t worry we found similar interests down the road – shopping and that’s a whole other story). Bobbe attended Hiawatha High where she participated in Band and Twirling and graduated in 1970.

In 1971 she met Don (also of Hiawatha KS) who quickly became the love of her life and they were together just shy of 49 years – Married September 3rd, 1971. The young couple’s start took them to different parts of Kansas and Missouri. Bobbe worked as an administrator in Hospitals in St. Joseph & Kansas City then took on sales job with Manpower and the Local Antioch News Paper.

In 1975 their only child was born, Jacki Dale, and brought an abundance of joy to their life (well that is my version). With Bobbe being an only child and me being an only child, we were more often like sisters and best friends.

1986 began a new chapter of her life in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Don took a job with Saudi Arabian airlines that lasted 10 years. During these years Bobbe was able to travel to Seoul Korea (think power shopping), Greece, Thailand, Singapore, Egypt, England, and various cities within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Discovering the joys on not having to shovel snow and having a love for the sun, they built a house and moved to Chandler AZ in 1989.

Back in the States Bobbe took on various employment opportunities, all around her expertise…Sales. She loved talking with people and always had a way of never meeting a stranger. Bobbe loved traveling and shopping (lots of shopping) but always had a passion for photography and technology. In 2004 she started her own business Media Created for You. She filmed various events and receptions and was able to help people create timeless memories for their special moments. In 2014 she retired but always kept up on the latest tech gadgets.

In 2018 Bobbe was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Grade 4 (terminal brain cancer). She remained extremely positive during her 19-month fight. Bobbe shared almost daily her thoughts and feelings with her Facebook family and reconnected with her faith in which she found comfort. She also found a way to give back by becoming a certified member of The Alliance of Therapy Dog network.

On June 12th, 2020 after one hell of a fight, Bobbe took her last breath with her husband, Don, by her side. She leaves behind her husband, daughter, aunt, and many wonderful friendships that she built over her last 67 years.

“Now I know why you raised me to be strong – you knew one day I would need the strength to bear your loss”

A forever friend

June 12, 2021
Bobbe welcomed my family to Hiawatha in 1958.  As we pulled into our new drive, there stood this little girl in an Alpine type winter coat with a salt shaker in her hand.  She offered us all some salt.  "It's good", she said. We were fast friends from that point.  I know she's watching over us all.  Forever friends...

Determination

June 16, 2020
Determination doesn't even sound like the right word to use for a women that Doctors on multiple occassions said shouldn't even be alive, let alone walking and talking.  Here she is going into Radiation determined to beat the beast growing in her brain (which was female according to my mother).  While she ended up losing the fight, I'm confident saying she kicked it's ass a few times along the way!

Chiefs win the Superbowl

June 16, 2020
We couldn't believe it- the Chiefs won the 2019 Season Superbowl!  I feel so blessed that we were able to enjoy the game as a family; even if mom asked "when's the superbowl" after the game was over...lol
