Bobby Garland Godsey, 86, a long time resident of Granville County, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at his home.

A native of Mecklenburg County, Va., he was the son of the late Claude Godsey and Lillian Talley. He was a member of Mt. Creek Baptist Church and was retired from the NC Department of Transportation. He also served faithfully as the treasurer of the Cornwall Fire Department for more than 20 years.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Mt. Creek Baptist Church by Rev. Johnny Richards. Burial will be private.

Surviving are his wife of forty nine years, Gladys Hart Godsey of the home, four daughters, Marsha Green (Walter) of Leland, JoAnn Watts of Oxford, Vickie Sayce (Kurt) of Fairfax, Va. and Rita Stanley (Jeff) of Oxford, two sons, Van O’Brian (Heather) of Roxboro and Wade Godsey (Regina) of Oxford, fourteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Luanne King and a sister Gladys Brinkley.

Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall of Mountain Creek Baptist Church and other times at the home.
