Life gives us so much opportunity for happiness, but it also reminds us to take nothing, and no one, for granted. After a life filled with love and troubles, my mother Bonnie has passed away.
Throughout her time here, above all, she believed in the power of kindness and unconditional love for her children, family, friends, and even strangers. My mom never lost this belief even though others would hurt her, because she gave people the benefit of the doubt. She believed in the true value of loving thy neighbor, and always reminded me never to use things like money, intelligence, popularity, talent, or faith to feel superior to others.
People have asked me now and then why I insist on being hopeful about humanity and the ability of love to always win in the end. My response: it's what my mom taught me. Rest in peace, mom. I love you.
