Mom

January 23, 2019

My mom was a single mother of two and enjoyed every minute with her 3 grandchildren. My mom co-parent (with her best friend of 60 years) 4 children and way too many grand and great grandchildren who she loved so very much.

My mom lost her parents in her late twenties who she missed every day until she was reunited with them. She promised them my sister and I would be raised catholic and she kept that promise.

My mom was very strict with us. Growing up we weren’t allowed KISS records because they stood for (Kids In Satins Service) and if you play the record backwards you can hear the devil. We were allowed to listen to Guns N Roses but not the spaghetti incident because one of the songs was written by Charlie Mason. My sister listened to Twisted Sister and my mom said they were ugly girls. My mom never drank a lot so I made up for that on weekends. My mothers home remedy for a hang over at 16 was to grab a pot and pan and bang them together 2 feet away from your head. I’m sure that was to ward off any demons left from the night before. Right lol. She was much softer on her grandchildren. They could get away with murder.

My mom was my best friend and she was always on my side even if I was being a shit head. She was my light in dark times and I can still hear her say “ now Wendy you know everything always works out for you”.

My mom was not dealt an easy life and she didn’t have much but she loved her life because of her family. I know sometimes she would cry at night when she was by herself and upset but no one would know that because she had a smile on her face and you can hear that laugh from another room and know it was her.

I’m thankful she was taken fast because I couldn’t imagine if she had to go through all that pain again in treatment like the first time.

She was the rock, the glue and the light of our family and I know she is up there with her parents and her best friend ( much older best friend of 14 days if you ask her) with a smile on her face.

Until the day we meet again. Sleep peaceful my sweet angel.

Bonnie was a true friend. When we lived next door to each other we were together so often we actually put a gate in the fence separating our yards. Almost every weekend Bonnie and I would get up early, map out the yard sales in town and be on our way.  Sometimes we found that treasure but often it was just a fun morning together followed by breakfast out. I missed that moving away,as did she. I will be forever glad I got to spend the night with her this past summer and do it one last time. It was just like the old days and we had a blast. We did many things together and became good friends in the few years we were neighbors. Bonnie was a true gem. I miss her dearly. She left us way too soon. Miss you Bon!
