I'm on my way over
On a cold January day last winter we had a pipe freeze and burst in our home. What was really streaming through the ceilings (yes, ceilings...burst on the 2nd floor and was making it's way down into the basement full speed ahead). I'm running around the house trying to figure out what to do (on phone with Geoff, who ends up being of little help) and who walks in the door but Brad and within seconds the problem is solved and the water supply is turned off and he helps us mop up the puddles.
The dust settles, and I mention to Brad it's a good thing he showed up out of the blue as this was happening. But apparently it wasn't by coincidence. My 10 year old son (who happens to be a little focused on the Titanic) had sent Brad a simple text that read...
"Are house is flooding and it's going fast we all need help"
Brad's reply
"I'm on my way over"
No questions asked, Brad just knew Henry needed help and he came. Loved that quality in Brad.
Three amigos at spring break
Best buddies as kids
Brad and I were great friends growing up, spending lots of time together from kindergarten through high school. I am sad that we lost touch once college began, but I guess that is the nature of things. Brad has a special place in my life. We were companions as we went from boys to young men. I hope that posting a few photos will bring a smile during this very difficult time. The first image appears to be a kindergarten field trip during our Richard school days. Brad is in the front row, far left. To the right of him are Rob Wood and Mike Leinweber. I am peeking out from behind Rob's head. Maggie Fox is in pigtails in the row behind me. Jump forward over a decade and you will see three guys trying to be cool on spring break in Florida senior year. In the straw hats photo, Brad is far right, Rob Maywood is in the middle and I am on the left. The same trio is in the hot tub in the third image. I will try to find more photos to post.
