His Life

Brady's life

July 16, 2012

I would like to share a little about my son Brady Reese. Many of you did not know him, but you prayed for him. He was a witty, intelligent young man who went to high school daily even when he was so ill he would have to be taken to the hospital from school. He was the most courageous young man you could ever want to meet. He was not afraid to die. He did not want a new heart...he wanted the heart that God gave him. That wish was granted when he was given an artificial heart pump which allowed him to keep his heart and have the pump do the work. Unfortunately something went wrong and his body betrayed him and allowed a hemorrhage in his spinal column and brain which has left him a quadriplegic and ultimately his death, February 11, 2012. His wish was to be like a normal young man but he was far from normal. He did not let his physical condition or others who said inappropriate remarks about him since he had physical limitations get him down. He lived a life with struggles, both physical and emotional from the beginning of life to the end but rarely complained. Whether it was being bullied at school, being left behind by others who did not understand his disease, or having chest pains and headaches daily, Brady did not complain. Brady touched the hearts of many during his short stay on earth. He brought many people closer to God and evaluating their beliefs. For such a young age, he was wiser and more courageous than any adult I know. He looked death in the face daily. I only wish I was as strong as he was. I am so proud of him and his sister also for being there for him when he needed a person to listen and give him advice about love, life, and getting along in school. I will miss him always.
