Brenda had gotten a new Barbie house...she and her cousin Debbie went outside to play Barbies..I thought I better check on them..when I got outside the Barbie house was on fire,,,asking what was going on Brenda calmly replied..my GI Joes needed to save the Barbies,,,,,just one of her quick of wit antics...what could I say.....love your mother

The Fremont Tribune editors wrote an article about how Brandi had always been there beside her mother to help as Brenda's disease worsened. They talked about Brandi's outstanding character and about Brenda being able to raise such an honorable teenager despite all things that worked against her.
Once I got off work the day it was published I called Brenda to see if she had read it yet. She knew nothing about it so I read it to her over the phone. When I was finished reading I heard only silence, then sniffles, then weeping. Brenda, who I rarely saw or heard cry, was moved to tears. They were good tears and she was beaming with pride at the daughter Brandi had become.
This is just one of the many stories about how Brenda (and Brandi) have touched my life. More later...
