Bretsi my brother.... I dont even know where to begin. You have been the joy in ALL our lives. You were always the life of any party, work function or gathering.... with your huge infectious laugh that could be heard from a mile away. Your laugh mirrored the size of how big your heart is. I have learned so much from you big guy. I will miss our long chats about life, work, people, lessons, love and always trying to find that life balance. I will miss you always my BROTHER. I feel at peace as I know you are at peace and in a much better place than this world. I will see you in heaven soon. Love you Bresti, always!

Brett, we met you and Leanne when you first arrived in Dubai, full of the joys of life and what Dubai had to offer. We saw you go from strength to strength just blossoming here with your keen spirit, friendly manner, high energy - getting married, getting your MBA, such proud milestones for you all and then of course little Kiara arriving to top it all off! ❤️ Such an amazing journey, and who knows why it had to end so abruptly. We all ask why, and will never know the reason why, but your spirit, courage and energy lives on in Leanne and Kiara - your pride and joy and love will always shine through them. You will no doubt be bouncing along the pathways, dancing and laughing right beside them and all your family and protecting them every day. Keep all those angels in heaven occupied with your infectious energy ❤️

We worked together on the launch of JYSK and wow what a journey that was! The lead up was crazy but you always kept your cool and that super infectious smile didn’t move from your face. I will remember you for your boundless positivity, friendliness and approachability! I am deeply sorry for what has happened. May God wrap his arms around your nearest & dearest. It was a pleasure knowing you, even for the shortest time

Brett, it's so hard to comprehend that you have gone. You were our first born Grandson who had these amazing big blue eyes and blonde hair.  Your smile would melt our hearts the moment we saw it. You had the most wonderful personally which was loving. You lived your life just how you wanted and achieved what you set your mind to. The proudest moments for Gramps and I were the day you married Leanne and the birth of Keeks. We knew you were going to be an amazing husband and father.  The joy and love that shone through was a delight. Life is so cruel at times and we wished and prayed for a miracle for you but God had bigger plans.
Brett you will never be forgotten and the memories that we built over the years are going to see us through this difficult time. You will forever be in our hearts.

Leanne thank you so much for being Brett's rock. You are a very special Granddaughter and we love you and Keeks so much.

My Nephew.
Where to even start. You took me under your wing like a little sister. Took me on adventures. I am going to miss your laugh and that shining smile of yours.
Although you are no longer on this earth, the memories that have been made through these years will forever live in my heart.
You were truly a one of a kind person who touched a lot of people's hearts.
You are missed
You will always be loved
You will never be forgotten
Leanne, you and Kiara always in my thoughts and my heart during this difficult time.

Brett. I can't believe it. I really can't believe I'm even writing this. You are such a character, fun, energetic and likeable. I will always remember my last day at Retail Arabia, and the weeks prior when we were working together and I questioned myself on my decision to leave as I felt like I would enjoy working with you and your energy! We didn't get to catch up as much as we should have afterwards but Graeme always kept me posted on you and the family. You will be missed, but we will meet again.

Love to your two girls. I am sure they will make you proud x
Gary.

The legend of Bret trevethan

Shared by Dominique Borrill on May 30, 2021
I met Bret when I was 19, working at cafe vacca Matta in foreshore , Cape Town, 1999.
what a life force , what a character , what a dancer!  . A kind, gentle soul with an amazing smile and laugh . A good soul , quality person . We lost touch for many years and reconnected on our respective journeys , walking this rough road together . Sharing our triumphs, fears and hopes .
bret was there for me and I for him . If we were having shit times we lifted each other up .
he was so so brave and faced his illness with dignity , determination and a will to survive that I’ve never seen . He gave me courage to fight back and fight harder .
buddy , I’m glad you’re not in pain anymore . I’m glad you are happy with Jesus and not sick anymore . In a way, I’m envious !
im glad your family know how much you loved them , leaving your legacy of tenacity and determination behind , so that keeks can be forever inspired by her beautiful father and Leeanne can take comfort in the fact that she was your last , forever love .
man, I miss our chats and bitching and moaning about treatment. I miss waking to your messages - your last one being “ let’s dust this place and go drink cocktails on an island til the end “
my friend you are forever in my heart and I have no doubt when the time is right for my transition you’ll be waiting for me Pina colada In hand . Til then , rest easy , rest gently my brother in Christ .
you are forever loved .
all my love, Dom xxx
