Me and My Little Brother...

November 4, 2015

It was Brett and I for a few years after older brother and sis moved out. We had lot's of fun together and times not so much!. I was going to Lake Powell with some friends and my Mom thought it would be a good idea if I invited Brett to go... Although it likley played out as, "if you want to go, you'll take your brother." So I told him he could tag along. He was so excited. He ran into his room to put on something to swimin and he came out in these BRIGHT yellow shorts and white as a ghost. I could barely contain my laughter and promptly told him he looked like a half peeled bananna.

The look of horror on his face as he turned and went back into his room. I felt awful that I hurt his feelings. I had to beg him to come along after that, but eventually convinced him to come and we had the best time!

Love you brother.

Little Bro. to the Rescue

October 23, 2015

Brett was our babysitter for this adventure. He hauled all six of us around while in Salt Lake. We went bowling which was hysterical because we had been drinking (except Brett)... He was our DD toting our goofy selves around for the night. Pretty sure there was karaoke and that couldnt have been easy to stomach. But little brother took it all in stride and made sure we were all safe. He always looked out for his family.

Many Adventures

Brett and I have always been extremely close. Although there were times when we wanted to choke eachother and often tried as teenagers, we still managed to stay best of friends. Although, Brett must have purged from his memories some of the things I did to him when he was little.

We were only a couple years apart in age but when he was maybe three or four I would pretend to be a Mom and Brett was my little one. It was my job to make his lunch, so I would  round up whatever I could find and feed it to him. One of my more creatative dishes included leaves, grass and some kind or red paste. I am surprised he didnt end up in the emergency room with my expert cooking skills at age six that arent much better today..

Then there was times when Brett would be my living doll. Had big sisters help on this. We would dress him up in our clothes and put tiny little ponytails all over his head- they stood straight up. He looked adorable.

He claimed not recall my experimenting on him with plant life but I'm pretty sure he was holding on to some of it in the deep recesses of his mind. Because when he got older and bigger- I knew better than to terroize him.  Ya- he knew.

The day school let out my junior year of high school, I was in my room getting ready for a date- in front of the mirror primping and messing with my hair. He snuck up behind me and just smacked the back of my hair, messing up all my work. I turned around and promptly launched a failed assault of my own when I attempted to kick him with no shoes- he got out of the way just fine, however I did not fare as well.. The bottom of my foot caught the very sharp end of the dresser handle and I was kicking with intent. The handle caught on the top and I pulled it open three or four inches. I didnt realize just how much damage I had done, I was laughing as I fell onto the bed holding the bottom of my foot with both hands and Brett was laughing hysterically, it was all good until I opened my hands and the blood was spurting out everywhere. Laughter soon turned to screams (mine).

Anyway, my little fit, in efforts to kick my little brother into the next week cost me my entire summer on crutches and 45-50 stitches...

Brett never told me he was sorry, but I knew how bad he felt. He took care of me, get me anything I needed. He may have been the instigator in this little debacle but he was always my biggest protector when he knew I was hurt or hurting and that never changed.

We stayed close even when our lives took us to different states. Brett moved to Nevada with the parentals several years after I was out of school and living in SLC. I had already married, and started a family. Brett did as well- few years later. He married, had two beautiful girls and stayed in Elko. We were still close enough to see eachother- me in SLC and him in Elko, only a few hour drive. Holidays, birthday parties or just a surprise lunch!

:-) I love my little brother so very much.
