To my dear loving Aunty Bridget
Here are a few things I would like to say
For you are someone I cannot forget
And I will always remember you in every way

I can't believe it is already a year
When the cycle of life stopped to turn
Confirming my greatest and worst fear
And all we could do was grief and mourn

You were someone so full of life
Making your mark as you journeyed on
But our pain of losing you is still as sharp as a knife
Because with us you will always belong

Life full of its ups and downs
For what we seek we may not see
But you always know how to make smiles from frowns
And encourage us to pursue who we want to be

You were a loving wife, aunt and mother
Always ready to give a hug or helping hand
Sharing your love and warmth like none other
And where necessary you take a firm stand

A lot had happened since you have been gone
And we can all still feel you near
As your presence is like the rising of the sun
Like the grace of the almighty that is always there

Even though we love and miss you still
Thank you for being our sunshine after the rain
We take solace and refuge in God's will
Till we all meet and reunite again

Continue to rest in the almighty's bosom above
May eternal life be bestowed upon you
Your aura and ambience be filled with love
As well as His mercies and grace too

Life without Jesus is completely empty. Thank you precious Lord for the life of our mother " Mummy Birabi," she fought a good fight, she finished her course, and indeed she kept the faith. We cherish your legacies and will forever hold them in high esteem. Continue to fellowship with the saints in the beautiful land where we never grow old. May the Lord Jesus Christ honor you with beautiful robes and shining crown filled with heavenly stars. Thank you for touching lives, heaven will forever celebrate you.

My dearest beloved Aunty Bridget
Still very surreal to know you are gone
Ours memories together I will never forget
Or the grief so far I have borne

If I could have one wish come true
Just to see you and hear you again
I would not hesitate or ponder to
Maybe it might help me ease the pain

It's been like ages gone by
Since you left us here for a heavenly place
And as much as we want to question why
We can only imagine your lovely face

There is so alot left unsaid
And I wish so much that you can see
How your counsel and wisdom has helped me in my stead
And I am getting close to where I ought to be

It still hurts just like yesterday
When the sad news broke that fateful night
And as much as I wanted and wished you stay
You fought a brave battle with all your might

Thank you so much for all that you have done
Before the time to go finally came
For your love and courage is second to none
And the world will continue to remember your name.

I am consoled by the good and exemplary life you lived
Affecting humanity mind, body and soul
For your legacy and warmth will not be outlived
In your sojourn on earth as a whole

Aunty Bridget, still can't believe you're gone. You and Uncle Ben are the only ones who call me 'Aunty Bunmi' from my childhood for reasons I don't know. You were an inspiration in every way. We know you have gone to a much better place and our joy is that we had the privilege of knowing you. I thank God for a life well lived and all the lives you touched. Your legacy lives on and you will be forever missed. Goodnight dear Aunty.

The news of the death of Dr Bridget Birabi-past president of the Nigerian Society of Physiotherapy-which occurred on the 29th of April 2016 came as a rude shock to Physiotherapits at National Orthopaedic Hospital,Igbobi and to physiotherapists all over Nigeria.
It is uncontestable that her tenure as president of Nigeria Society of Physiotherapy midwife the renaissance of Physiotherapyp profession in Nigeria.Pre and post her stewardship, she was a mother figure,a mentor and a motivator. In the course of our engagement with her,all can testify to her forthrightedness, passion to take the younger ones under her wings and uncommon commitment to the course of our profession in Nigeria and beyond.
We deeply mourn a woman of many parts-a seasoned clinician,a distinguished professional,a great archived and a mother figure.
Dr Birabi will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Adieu.

Nwanne, as you start your final journey to Ogoni land today, I just weep. This was not the plan. As 'expatriate ' wives, we were supposed to hang in there for a very long time. But our God has other plans. I shall miss your wise words. You were indeed an icon and a very bright light in Bennet's life. Doraa woo. Je nke oma.

A Teacher of Teachers is gone. You left a legacy and footprints on the sands. Farewell the golden icon, a mother, a grandmother and a friend, may God comfort the families you have left behind. The greatest legacy one can pass on to one's children and grandchildren is not money or other material things accumulated in one's life, but rather a legacy of character and faith and these and many more we have seen in you. We will forever miss you, may your gentle soul continue to rest in the bosom of the Almighty God. Amen.

Auntie as we fondly called her was a warm and accommodating personality. She welcomed Femi and I as her younger siblings with outstretched arms. Throughout our sojourn in PH and thereafter, we had a home at her place in GRA. Her depth of love and wisdom increased when she met the Lord. Auntie, it is shocking that you are gone so soon. But I realize that it is not how long but how well and God knows best. You have gone home to rest. You touched several lives and you loved God.
May God comfort comfort uncle B, Naaku, Dimeari, Meesuan and the rest of the family.
Adieu till we meet to part no more.

Nwanne Birabi you were a friend, a sister, a mother, a mentor. You loved, embraced, showed love, and were a reconciliator to all. Most of all you were a daughter of a King. Nwanne you were a prayer warrior who loved God so much. You prayed always and at all time. You were an intercessor for all. Nwanne you carried the cross of Jesus all the days of your life. Jesus was your constant companion. His name never departed from your lips, you were a true disciple of Jesus. Nwanne you're a gem that God blessed the Birabi family and Yeghe people with. Nwanne your presence was felt all over my village, my community, my state, my country, and all over the world. In my entire life I have not seen or heard anyone speak evil or bad about you, that's how loveable you were. Nwanne, your great attributes and love for others will always remain in our hearts until we see you again at the throne of grace. One more request Nwanne, as you be with the Lord, remember not to stop praying for your people, your loved ones, your community. That's what you always did. On April 29, 2016 a precious gem, the daughter of a King, went home to be with the Lord. My dear madam, mentor, colleague, motivator, confidant, co-author and role model, mine may not be one of the early tributes on your passing away because each time I sat to do this, I am pulled away by grief and a 'somewhat thought' that one day's delay may just change this sad reality. Madam, you were such a great woman, bold, straight, confident, honest and daring, a great achiever who stood for the truth in all her dealings with God and fellow humans. You discovered me, encouraged, nurtured and brought out the best in me as a young physiotherapist, when I first came into the service of the NSP as Assist. Gen. Sec. with you as president. You recognized potentials and rewarded every achievement. You raised the profile of the physiotherapy profession in Nigeria and beyond and inspired many potential leaders in our profession. You inspired my interest in attending International professional conferences and also nominated me to represent NSP at international WCPT events and at other inter-professional groups within Nigeria. You inspired my early interest in research and I am honoured to have jointly presented papers with you at International conferences and also co-authored four publications.
Beyond an unequaled professional mentorship, when I got married, you literally adopted my family by mentoring my wife as you visited us many times while you were in Lagos and thus brought us so close to your family that late grandma (your mum) would always invite my family to her birthdays in Festac town. Each time I was in Port harcourt, you sent your driver to fetch me from my event as you insisted I must come and have delicious home meals.
Madam, words cannot express how knowing you has affected my life and career. Thank you for teaching and guiding me. Thank you for having such trust and confidence in me, in life. Until that day when you looked at me, acknowledged with a smile but could no longer call my name, and I walked away devastated. May our God, whom you served with great dedication, grant you a bosom place of eternal rest, Amen.
Heartfelt condolences to my chairman, Dr Ben Birabi and the sons, Naakuu, Dimieari and Meesuan, to the brothers Ferdinand and Nkay, to Aunty Edith and Kulthoum, friend Mrs Okunuga and the enture physiotherapy world. -Dr UAC Okafor

May God almighty console your family.

To many you were a great leader and Mentor but to me you were more than a boss.

Aunty Bridget meeting you in 2009 was a turning point for me in my career life and personal life, working with you, you fast became more than a boss to me, you took me in as a daughter, always encouraging me and cheering me on. You instilled in me values I would forever cherish. In spite of your ill health you took time to read through all my essays and my dissertation encouraging me when I felt the pressure was so much and reminding me the end was near and how u wanted me to finish strong. You were strong even to the end, I always remember u telling me not to worry how u were going to beat this and how we definitely will have a Thanksgiving ceremony...... I am still in so much shock that you have left us Aunty B, but my consolation is that you are in a better place with the Lord..... you left an indelible mark in my mind and your memories will forever live in my heart....

It was indeed a shocking news that you are gone. Although we are not close but you my mentor from afar. Your speech, your actions, your advice, your approach to situations are so educating. In fact, most things I see you do is educative. I will not forget the last time I met you in our colleague's wedding in Portharcourt. You answered my greetings and asked me how I am doing both in life and in physiotherapy practice, as if we have known for a long time. That was so encouraging. I can continue writing and writing because lists of words for your are inexhaustive. You are such an epitome of encouragement to the younger generation. Ma, we (NSP) shall surely miss you, may be.... sorry to say, more than your immediate family.
Good bye.

Dr Mrs Bridget Birabi was a humble beautiful soul. Her sisterly, wifely and motherly show of love & care for all she came in contact with was a true reflection of her belief in Christ Jesus, whom she loved so much.
She held with dignity her commitment to her profession encouraging many others to stand out. I grew to love her before I met her because I had heard how caring she was to her "youth corper" while I was also serving in UPTH 1986.
On gaining appointment in UPTH, she became more than a big sister to me , introducing me to her wonderful family.
It is a privilege to have been on the same ABV flight with you, as that was my goodbye till the resurrection morning.
May God comfort all.

The news of the demise of Dr. Birabi was unbelievable. I was shocked when i read the sms from a colleague in my department, i quickly made a call to another colleague in Port Harcourt who confirmed the news. The members of my family also received the news with great shock, they knew her when she came to Kano during her tenure as the NSP President. I was actually looking forward to the contributions she would make during the Kaduna conference as a private physiotherapy practitioner. You left when NSP needed you most. The legacy you left behind lives on. May God grant the family, friends & the physiotherapy family the fortitude to bear the great loss.

Confused as I am. I never knew or heard that you were sick. I saw you last during our 2014 Diocesan women conferce, you were our guest speaker at St Mark's Ang church Elelenwa. We bade ourselves farewell until on the 2nd of May when a friend called to announce to me that my ' twin ' has died because they believe that we look alike. But since I knew you from our days in General Hospital until we transferred our services to UPTH , you have always been an honest, straight forward , humble person.. You spoke the truth always no matter the situation. You crowned it with your commitment to the things of God. God raised you above your peers early in life but you remained humble. Rest in the bosom of the Lord who you seved

7 Years today you rested from all life's toils. It's just like yesterday, but to die is to live forever in the hearts of your loved ones. I visited the house and your absence was very palpable but i consoled myself with the fact that you're in a better place. Sleep on sweet Sister, Mother, and Mentor. I love always and the memories of you will be sweet always . Sleep on Ma.

Sister,
How much i was reminded today of your absence. It is Meesuan's traditional marriage, beautiful outing but your presence would have added some more beautiful colours to it all. But it is well.
Rest on Mum.

Auntie  was many things to many people, she will be forever remembered as our warm and ever caring big sister. We remember her today as always. We thank God for keeping uncle, Naaku, Dimieri and Meesuan.  We will meet at the feet of Jesus.
