Britton (Dede) Darryl Weaver, age 88, of Roseburg Oregon died December 20, 2019 at his home in Roseburg. Born March 26, 1931 in the Perkins Building in downtown Roseburg to Katherine and Charles (Mike) Weaver who lived in Myrtle Creek. He went to school in a one room school, the Clough School, just east of Canyonville, OR. He finished school in 1949 in Myrtle Creek, OR. He then went to Ashland University of Southern Oregon until enlisting in the Army for three years during the Korean War. He spent his enlistment in Germany. He finished college after discharge from the army and received a Master’s Degree from the University of Oregon. He taught school for 2 years in Oakridge, OR, 1 year in Fallon, NV, one year in Riddle, OR and one year in Yuma, AZ. He taught 2 years at each of the Junior High Schools in Roseburg, was a Vice Principal at Deer Creek Elementary School in the Glide School District for 5 years. He taught at Hucrest Elementary School in Roseburg for 20 years. Rocketry was popular in the sixties and he helped with the school's rocketry club. He coached football and basketball for the kids at Hucrest and had the traditions in his class of having his students memorize and recite the Night Before Christmas. He also made individual Christmas stockings for the students with their names on them. He was very interested in history and even more in local history. He researched, wrote and then guided Historic Walking Tour of Roseburg. He did this at first for his classes but also would do it for others that were interested. Even after retiring he was involved in teaching both by substitute teaching and helping in his daughter Barbara's classroom. He always had a garden and small individual pumpkins made it from his garden into the classroom for the kids. In 1963 he Married Mary Recla in Reno, NV. They had 3 kids He is survived by a daughter Judy Weaver from his first marriage to Clara Wehde from Days Creek and two of three children from his second marriage Darryl and Charles Weaver. His daughter Barbara Godsey preceded him in 2009. He has two grandchildren Fiona and Wyatt of Charles and his wife Michelle.
