I have very fond memories of Mr. Weaver at Hucrest when he was watching over teachers. I'll always remember him as a kind man!
Blessings to all,

I was Britt's caregiver and had the opportunity to take care of him for about three years. When Mary hired me, I wasn't too sure if Britt would like me. He had the opinion that he didn't need any help. On one occasion I started a conversation with him about Eastern Oregon, because I knew he liked to talk about that subject. He got up and started walking away from the living room. I asked him where he was going. His reply was,"You sound like my wife." I figured he was on his way to the bathroom. Then I really thought that that would be my last day. However, the hours increased and we both learned to like each other. We both really enjoyed walking down by the river behind their house. We would have lunch there. It seemed like his favorite spot on the property. At that time he was still able to walk. We also enjoyed picking up walnuts in their back yard. He would visit with his neighbor across the fence. Going for a ride was very exciting for him. I would drive, but he would direct me to many places he knew in the countryside of Roseburg. I really cherish the good conversations he was able to have with me at that time. Unfortunately it didn't last long enough. Gradually he slowed down and finally slipped away from us. I will miss him.

I remember my dad as hard working and taking care of the family. He was always there and I miss him already. One of the best things he gave me was the desire to explore. He was always looking for new things to go see. I still don't know how much time he spent researching (mailing off requests to states across the country) for our cross country trip. He took the whole family in station wagon and trailer from Oregon to New York city and back and filled the trip with learning and exploring.

Wish I knew Dede

March 8, 2020
I did not know this gentleman but I'm very impressed with him and all he accomplished during his time on earth. Due to Dede's fondness for the outdoors, Oregon history, fishing, hiking, gardening, and travel, he and I have much in common. Next time I fish the Rogue I will think of him and what the fishing must have been like "back in the day". I did not know Dede, but I'm sure his family and friends know they were lucky to know him. I send my best wishes for all of you.
