Celebration of Life

April 25, 2016

Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on Saturday May 7th at St. Barnabas Church in the Reception Hall starting at 11am. Contributions in memory of Bruce can be made to Falmouth Service Center on-inline or (508) 548-2794.

Survivors

He was the beloved husband of Barbara (Lockhart) Thomson. Besides his wife Barbara, Bruce is survived by his 5 sons, Jeff (Karine), Brian (Cindy), Edward (Jane), Mike & Andy and daughter Beth.  Also 9 grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren. Bruce had 1 brother, Lee Thomson.

 

Later Years

In retirement, Bruce’s knowledge of materials led him to a hobby in mineralogy.  In addition, he enjoyed world traveling with his wife Barbara and visiting family & friends.  Bruce was known by his friends as Mr. Halloween due to his elaborate celebrations.

Career

Bruce’s career started working on ramjet engines, then progressed to a Navy nuclear training center in the new field of materials for nuclear containment.  The high point of his time there was as consultant on a maiden voyage on a nuclear submarine.  Bruce & family then moved to Indianapolis where he developed a passion for the Indy 500 attending many times with his sons.  He continued his expertise in the field of material applications at UTC & Tyco as he headed east.  At the end of his career, Bruce worked at Laser Science and Textron in the Boston area.

Education

He graduated from Rensellear Polytechnic Institution (RPI) with a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering.  He was a member of the Rensellear Society of Engineers.  He also earned a MBA from University of Hartford.
