Dr. Shieman's skilled hands enabled me to walk again 23 years ago after my spine failed, then later, when my hands were becoming numb and unresponsive, Dr. Shieman's skills restored my ability to work and play music again.
Dr. Shieman gifted me with the restoration of all that I am. Fair winds and following seas, doctor; thank you.

Bryan was my inspiration so i write this, not in poem, but by heart. Her friend asked her "Do you like him?" The magnificent man she has met in an isolated town, just so far away..... she says....no,, i don't believe i like him, i.....love him! and they haven't yet had a date!

so....61yrs of marriage and a lifetime later, her pillar of respect, dignity, and love of life,... gave his, after a courageous battle to survive. this man is truly a 'pillar' of human spirit. a saver of souls, mender of hearts, he lived his life on 'call'.

on 'call' of the whim of needed ones, doctors, nurses, medical scientists,....."BRYAN? can you help with this, that?" with students underfoot, be it in America, Mexico, or any country he would fly to...he would set up his 'clinics', on his own 'deneros', to help all children.

I remember camping in Morro Bay. Your Dad helped set up our tent. I was in the tent and your Dad came in, sat down and said, " I used to love sleeping in a tent when I was a little girl" I told you what he said and you said, he always says that because he has 3 daughters :)

When Bryan joined our family, I wanted to contribute the organ music at the wedding, including my own Wedding March. A reckless teenager trying to out-do Wagner, I wrote the processional in 7/4 time. Bryan was quite concerned about that extra beat in the march and could envision participants stumbling down the aisle. I told him, if needed, they could count to fourteen and it would all work out. It did, and I gained a new big brother for the next fifty years!
