Obituary and Tributes

February 2, 2011

Edward Morrill Griffith, Jr., "Buzzy" to all who knew him, passed away on Friday, January 28, 2011  after a long, exhausting struggle with heart disease.

Buzzy was born to Edward M. and Dorothy Koch Griffith on February 11, 1953. The Griffith family's roots in Texas began during the fight for independence in 1836. The family settled in Terrell in the late 1800s.

Being a child of the 50s and 60s, Buzzy was a free spirit, a daredevil and a poster boy for being the class clown. Always surrounded by his many friends, Buzzy was legendary for his antics. He had a nose for mischief and was a magnet for excitement. Knowing both success and misfortune in his life, Buzzy never lost his sense of humor or shorted his friends on affection and loyalty.

He could have lived anywhere in the world but, preferring the simpler life, chose to call Terrell home. Buzzy is survived by his sister Dotty K. Griffith Stephenson of Austin, nephew Kelly Stephenson of El Paso and niece Caitlin Stephenson of Kansas City, Mo., his faithful companion, Chico and his many friends.

To thank him for the color he has added to all of our lives and honor his memory, friends have established an account in his name to offset his illness-related expenses. To make a contribution, please contact any American National Bank location or mail to ANB, P.O. Box 40, Terrell TX 75160, Attn: To the Benefit of Buzzy Griffith.
