His Life

I wanted to share these photos of Cain taken just last week.  This is my last memory of him and how I always want to remember him: smiling, laughing, having fun with friends, loving life and wearing his medal so proudly.  And of course, enjoying Cic's cinnamon rolls!

Bill, Carolyn and Cara, I am so sorry on the loss of your son and brother. I live on Sleepy Hollow, and I would see Cain in the front yard, with his cap and sword, welcoming all into the neighborhood.(I thought he was the Defender of the Neighborhood!) I would always wave and he would raise his sword higher. I hope that you get some comfort in knowing that he touched everyone that rounded that corner, I will miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Carolyn and Bill, I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. Be assured that Cain touched so many lives, including mine. He had a gift of joy and energy that made me smile every time I saw him! He will be missed greatly in this world, but has moved on to be a marvelous resident in his new home with God! Please do not hesitate to contact me for anything you may need. May God Bless You and Give You Strength! Joan

How special for Cain to get to be with the one who created him,the one who formed him in his mother's womb. I remember working with Cain in summer school and how he definitely had a mind of his own. I'm sure he's got several questions for God and is asking them as we speak. May God continue to bless you with memories of your son and brother.

We felt so sad when we heard the news of Cain's passing. We have very happy memories of him, especially his affection for our son, Allan. He always brightened up when he saw Allan, and Allan responded likewise. God gave him a wonderful, loving family and a good life.

Carolyn and Bill, I am shocked and saddened to learn of Cain's passing. I remember first meeting you at Medical City after his birth. Can that be 24 years ago? My thoughts and prayers are with you.

We moved to Highland Hills Ln.in 2005, it was when every now and then Cain would be outside playing or just walking in the yard, that I would stop say Hello or wave to him and there it was the thing that made him stand out above all the rest that great big smile, did he know me did he remember me who really knows but who really cared I didn't he gave me what I need on those days. I will miss him and his smile. Carolyn,Bill,Cara, Our Prayers go out to you. Thank you for sharing your son with so many people.

Bill,

I was just about to step on an airplane, when I heard the news about Cain.

My heart is broken for you and your family.   I’m so sorry for your loss.  I'm sorry I couldn't be there to support you guys in person.

Cain will always hold a special place in the heart of everyone that he has come in contact with.   It has been inspirational, over the last years, watching the interaction between you and Cain at basketball, with your fun-loving encouragement, and unconditional Acceptance.

You can be very proud of the life you gave him, while he was with us.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this sad time.

-Guy.

Bill,
I am incredibly saddened to hear of your loss. There is little more tragic in a person's life than to lose a child. Perhaps this is why the challenges thrust upon Job were so great; all his children were lost in one day.

David wept greatly...
(2 Samuel 18:33) Then the king became disturbed and went up to the roof chamber over the gateway and gave way to weeping; and this is what he said as he walked: “My son Ab′sa·lom, my son, my son Ab′sa·lom! O that I might have died, I myself, instead of you, Ab′sa·lom my son, my son!”

My heart goes out to you and your family. I have already said a prayer in your behalf.

Warmly,
Clay

Carolyn and Bill,

Reaching out to let you know that we are thinking of you during this very difficult time…there are no words that will take the pain away that you must be feeling at this time. But we wish you peace that comes from knowing God is with you….and that He will get you through each day.

God knew we all needed Cain in our lives….and for that reason Cain and his family crossed our paths….and we will always remember.

I remember the first time I ever met Cain….Wal-Mart years ago…he was shopping….Carolyn, you approached Carter and me…Carter must have been 7 or 8 at the time….you introduced yourself, and asked if we were involved with Special Olympics….we talked…and then you introduced us to Cain….he was shopping for a movie or CD…..I came home and told Russ about our meeting….moments like those….we remember.

With warm thoughts and prayers to you and family at this time….

Will see you soon!

Hi, Bill.  I just got back from the wonderful service for Cain, and although I didn't come by the reception afterwards (thought I'd be too weepy), I just wanted to say that the service was one of the nicest celebrations of someone's life I have ever been to.  It was so heartwarming to hear the pastor, Cara and Cain's teacher talk about the everyday stories of Cain's influence on those around them.  I'm sure Cain was beaming from his throne in Heaven!  Even though I can't even imagine how difficult this is for you, I hope that you and your family found the service both comforting and uplifting.  You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Yours very truly,
