Dear Big Frank,

I've been thinking of you today on World Turtle Day and your work supporting these lovely creatures. You still inspire me with your love and dedication. Thank you for being here with me and the fun times we had; I'll always cherish our moments together. Until we meet again, my friend.

Frank was sincerely one of the greatest souls I'll probably ever encounter, I met him as a server at Traders which he and his wife attended regularly. He would eat cake and drink black coffee, while Mrs. Jennifer would play her machines. We'd talk about life, games and poetry, and I had the honor of serving the two on their 22nd anniversary. Truly an amazing character, I am honered to have known and served the Vitamin C man himself.

I am saddened to hear that Frank has passed away. As a fellow U.S. Public Health Service commissioned officer we had much in common. His career in the USPHS was a reflection of his high level of intelligence and patience with addressing public health issues. Over the years we kept in touch altho' our careers went in different directions. Both of us had great disappointment on the EPA approach to environmental protection. He also was the Vitamin C Man. I will remember him. My best to his family and he will always be present and with you.

Frank's life was a full one that touched many of us through his loving thoughtfulness to those of us who were fortunate to have been his friends. Among those I've known in my life, no one else compares with Frank as a friend. I'll relish the memories for the rest of my life.

Frank A. Bell Jr. worked with me and other 'Fellow Workers' in EPA-Organization Office of Water he sat across from me. Whenever, Frank came in on Thursdays...he would come over to my workstation, once in awhile and tell his interesting environmental stories with articles he called his 'Dog and Pony show.' Frank was a very special exceptional Man with a lovely sweet spirit. I always enjoyed his smile and love to hear him talk with so much knowledge at 89 yrs. old! He was so gentle and love to give treats to co-workers in the office. I loved the beautiful names he called his lovely wife on the phone.

I said on Tuesday, May, 24, 2016 I want be here to see Frank on Thursday. I see him the following Thursday. When I received the sad news of his passing my heart was totally broken. I knew I will never see his kind gentle face and beautiful spirit or hear his voice anymore. I know this Wonderful, Intelligent Good Spirit Man has earned his Heavenly Wings and is with Our Lord and Savior "Jesus Christ."

As written in your card, "as a newbie, you introduced yourself Frank as the Vitamin C man and I have treasured our talks, wisdom gained and the holiday gifts with joy and our weekly talks. May the Lord keep an everlasting blessings on you, the family, and friends". So, in my NY state of mind and the song plays on, I will say. "You did it, your way". Go Bless, until we meet again at the gates of heaven.
