Obituary
Carl Wade Moody, 62, of Troup, Texas, passed-away Monday, March 8, 2021, in Tyler, Texas. Carl was born on October 26, 1958 in Providence, Rhode Island to Maxine Zimmerman and James Moody.
Carl served in the U.S. Air Force being stationed in Austin, Texas and Destin, Florida, after retiring from the Airforce he worked in Jacksonville, Texas at GME and then at Dew, Tool and Die in Troup Texas for many years as a machinist. In his younger days he enjoyed cycling and participating in the beauty and the beast bicycle tour cycling over 30 miles of country side as well as the hundred mile bike tour.
He moved to Kenai, Alaska in 1998 to work for GLM and worked there for many years before working on the slopes of Alaska as a machinist. He enjoyed going camping in the remote woods of Alaska and loved telling the stories of his adventures. His hobbies included spending time outdoors doing Archery, Hunting, Fishing and Camping. In recent years he won many awards for his amazing archery skills. Carl was truly a jack-of-all-trades, He always had a story to tell that would leave everyone with a laugh and a smile.
He leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Tammy Moody of Troup, Texas. Had two daughters Elizabeth (Nick) O’Donnell of Palestine and Rian (Jay) Shields of Troup. His Mother Maxine Tudyk, Brother David (Jody) Moody, Sister Sheri Moody and family as well as numerous loved ones.
Spending time with his family was his passion, He was known as “Pop” to his grandchildren and he enjoyed spending time with each of them. Grandchildren are Emilie, Riley, Suzie, Tatum and Lilllyan.
He is preceded in death by his father, James Moody; In-laws Sam and Margaret Osteen; and 2 grandsons Elijah Shields and Jonah Shields.
A graveside service will be held at 2 o’clock on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at the O’Steen Cemetery located at 1600 CR 4625 Troup, Texas 75789, officiating will be Nick O’Donnell. The family will have a small gathering before the service at Carl and Tammy’s house in Troup at noon.
