Carol Jean Newton

Carol Jean was born June 10th 1940 to Jessie and William Keim Gedeon in Washington D.C.  Carol Jean grew up in Michigan Park Hills, Maryland, modern day Mt. Rainier, MD. Carol Attended High Point High in Beltsville,MD.

In 1957 she met Jeff Newton for the first time in Langley Park, MD and the two began dating for the next four years.  The Dixie Pig in Hyattsville ,MD was the location where Carol Jean and Jeff moved the relationship to the next level and on September 12, 1961, the two married in Arlington, VA.

Carol Jean worked at the Toddle Inn 1962, when the first born son, Jeffery William was born at Walter Reed Hospital. In 1963, second son, Donald Joseph was born at Prince Georges Memorial Hospital.  Carol Jean remained a home maker with her two son's until the growing family moved Rockville, MD where third son Walter Thomas was born Providence Hospital in Washington D.C. in January, 1966. Carol Jean added the final family member in July of 1967, Sherrie Ann.

In the summer of 1969, Carol Jean and the family moved to Hollywood, FL and a year later, the family moved to Naples, FL.  There Carol Jean worked for a local gas company until 1971 when the family moved to Tappahannok, VA.

A year later, the family moved to Beltsville, MD. where Carol Jean worked for Leonie's Italian Restaurant in Langley Park, MD where she met her long time and dear friend Pat McDermott. After a short stent at Drug Fair in Laurel, MD with her sister Barbara Vrable, in 1977 Carol Jean began working at Fort Meade Officers Club and the family moved to Bowie, MD. Carol Jean worked for Fort Mead for 21 years until retirement in 1998. 

In 1998 Carol Jean and Jeff moved to Punta Gorda, Florida where she worked for the VFW, American Legion, and volunteered at Punta Gorda Hospital as a nurses assistant.  At the age of 74, Carol Jean returned to school and earned her Certified Nursing Assistant degree. 

Carol Jean remained active with her home owners association, neighbors and with friends like Lucille Kelly, Sue Banas.

Carol is survived by her husband Jeff of 58 years, four children Jeffery, Joey, Tommy, Sherrie, eleven grand children Thomas, Joshua, Jesse, Rene,Torri, Alina, Olivia, and Emily, Chloe,and Mammie, and Kacie. A brother Donald Gedeon, three nieces, Corrine, Barbra Jean, and Tracy.
