Carolyn Phillips Godwin, 80 passed away March 4, 2024.

Carolyn graduated from Woodlawn High School where she was a Majorette and due to her academic success, graduated early. She also participated in beauty pageants and modeling in her younger years.

She was Co-owner of D&G Electric and H&A Mechanical and also owned a successful furniture store in Gulf Shores, Alabama, Design Connections for 11 years.

Carolyn was an avid reader, loved to paint and adored her two dogs, as well as all animals. She had a tremendous faith which she freely shared with all and loved her family dearly.

She was preceded in death by her Father Dave Phillips, her Mother Irma Phillips, her son Thomas Jackson Godwin III, and her 4 Brothers and 2 Sisters.

She is survived by her daughter Debra Godwin, her son Shannon Godwin (April), her Grandchildren, Ryan Godwin, Phillip Godwin (Kelly), Amanda Godwin, her Great Grandchildren Jackson Godwin and Chloe Godwin, her daughters-in-law, Denise Godwin and Leigh Ann Hays, along with several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. 

There will be a celebration of life at a later date, to coordinate with family that are out of town. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Greater Birmingham Humane Society.
