Carolyn S. Bennett, 59, of Mackinaw, passed away on Friday, December 21, 2018 at her residence.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Friday, December 28, 2018 at Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue in Peoria. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Carolyn was born on June 6, 1959. She married Larry Lee Bennett on June 19, 1982 in Norwood. He preceded her in death on December 25, 2011 in Peoria.

She is survived by her daughter, Tanya (Nate Yackle) of Mackinaw; grandchildren, Brendan, Zachary and Olivia Maxwell and Aubree Yackle; and several siblings and friends throughout the country, whom she loved to go visit.

Carolyn worked for several optometrists throughout the area for many years as an eye technician. She last worked at the Illinois Eye Center.

Saying that Carolyn was an avid Chicago Bears fan, is an understatement. She loved the Chicago Bears and if you were there to watch the Bears play and didn’t root for them, you had to sit on “the bench” in the living room. In her house, Super Bowl Sunday was considered a holiday.

Carolyn also loved to cook and was amazing at it. She prepared for Thanksgiving for days and would create an enormous spread of food for all her family and friends. Anytime, anyone would come over for a visit, she would make sure they were fed. She never allowed anyone to leave hungry. She was a caring, strong and opinionated woman. She will be dearly missed.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the COPD Foundation.

I am so sorry for your loss. She will be missed for sure. She was one crazy lady. Her and I had a couple conversations on trips to her appointment's. She loved her family and friends. We had some laughs too. You don't realize how much you miss someone until they aren't there. So prayers of strength and comfort for her friends and family. I know you are with Larry now so RIP my friend.
