Carroll Ray Clayton, 68, a longtime resident of Granville County passed away Monday, July 29, 2019 at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham..
A native of Granville County, he was the son of the late Willie Grey Clayton and Peggy Mayton. He was a lifetime member of Tally Ho First Baptist Church.
He retired from the carpenter shop at John Umstead Hospital in Butner. He was a master carpenter and loved building for others and he was a number one Duke fan. Other hobbies included hunting and running dogs with a special group of friends “Ray’s Boys”.
A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 11:00 am at Tally Ho First Baptist Church by Reverend Eddie Nutt. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are a daughter Kelly Clayton Anderson (Scot) of Oxford, Anthony “Tony” Ray Clayton (Amanda) of Providence, three sisters, Wilma Clayton Woodall (Keith) of Stem, a twin sister, Faye Clayton Middleton of Creedmoor and Margie Clayton of Stem, three grandchildren, Mason Anderson, Rayleigh Clayton and Hallie Clayton. He was predeceased by his wife Wilma Bagbey Clayton.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 2, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor and other times at the home.
