As a family of proprietors of Seams To Fit, a consignment boutique in Portland, Oregon, we all Loved Cass. She was a passionate volunteer for the Assistance League (a fantastic organization of giving to those in need), and stopped by our shop to pick up our donations for them bi-weekly. We got to know her quite well over the years, and had many mornings together filled with laughter and hugs, even though we were conducting business. She was always such a joy, a hard-working and dedicated volunteer, had a laugh that was contagious, and above all she loved her kids and her grandkids. We talked about them a lot, and her heart was never far from her family. I know we miss her, and can only imagine how much those dear to her must miss her too. We are so sorry for your loss. We light a candle and raise a glass in her honor. Thank you, Cass.

Her Life

A Celebration of Cass' Life

June 4, 2021
Kathleen "Cass" Lynn Humphrey of Portland, Oregon passed away in April 2020 at 72 years old.

Cass was unfailingly supportive, kind, and loving to all who knew her, and had a great sense of humor to boot. She never had an unkind word to say about anyone. A graduate of the University of California, Long Beach, Cass was a brilliant medical technician, and held positions everywhere from Stanford University Hospital in Palo Alto, Calif., to Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) in Portland, Ore.

Cass was a professional-level chef, and adored hiking, traveling, reading, art, visiting museums and wonderful restaurants. A longtime vegetarian and lover of animals, Cass always strove to do her best for our planet and its neediest people. Throughout her life, she was a faithful volunteer at the Assistance League nonprofit.

But Cass's greatest joy in life was undoubtedly her adoring family, who are heartbroken by her loss. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; three perfect grandchildren; two siblings and siblings-in-law; and her beloved cat, Ruby. She was preceded in death by her parents. A private memorial service will be held this summer for immediate family; in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Assistance League of Greater Portland, Ore.
