Catherine "Kay" Booty(née Lief), 88, passed away on December 5th, 2020 and joined her beloved husband Bob, in eternal life.
She is survived by her daughter Mary Katzberg (Ken), grandson Rob, and brother Don; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Mary; her sisters Ruth Driscoll(Bill)and Mary Streff (Dave); and brothers Chuck(Mary), Bob (Charlotte)and Tom(Arlene).
Kay grew up on the south side of Chicago, and first met her future husband Bob when they lived next door to each other as kids. She didn’t much like him at the time because he liked to tease her-that all changed when they started dating years later. They were married in 1953, and celebrated 39 wedding anniversaries until Bob’s death in 1992.
Kay and Bob had one daughter, Mary and they lived in Lombard and later Glen Ellyn. Kay spent most of her married life as a Mom and homemaker, followed by many years working for the Department of Agriculture. When she retired, she enjoyed spending her extra time with her family, especially her grandson Rob. Kay was devoted to her Catholic faith and attended church regularly. She once went on a pilgrimage, traveling with her church group to the Holy Land and The Vatican, and was deeply moved by the experience.
Kay’s Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 25th at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 701 S. Eola Rd, Aurora IL at 10am. Luncheon following Mass.
