Her Life

Catherine Francis Ashcraft (Kitti), age 74, of Millstone Township, passed away suddenly on October 2, 2012 in her home.  Born in Cleveland, Ohio, she grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio and later Sidney, Ohio where she attended Sidney High, class of '55.  She then went to the University of Cincinnati where she majored in psychology, financing her education by working in the clinical laboratory of Cincinnati Jewish Hospital.  She married Arnold Clifton Ashcraft, jr in 1960 and together they raised four sons.  She ably served as the wife of a starving graduate student and capable mother of toddlers from 1960 to 1963.  She attended Brookdale College in NJ and finished her requirements for a BA degree.  She served as a tumor registrar for the New Jersey State Cancer Registry for 11 years from 1986 to 1997, gathering demographic data on the occurrence of cancers within the state.  She was certified by the National Cancer Registry.  She loved her family, music (especially jazz), literature, building teddy bears and travel.  She is survived by her husband of 52 years Arnold Clifton Ashcraft jr, her sons Arnold Clifton Ashcraft III, Aaron David Ashcraft, Jonathan Patrick Ashcraft and Gideon Anthony Ashcraft, grandchildren Aaron David Ashcraft jr, Christopher Paul Ashcraft, Karah Elizabeth Ashcraft and Jillian Marie Ashcraft and great grandsons Dhameon, Logan and Carter and many many loving friends.  She was predeceased by her mother, Effie (Sivley) Mueller, father Henry A. Meuller and brother Henry F. Meuller.  An informal memorial will be held at the trailside gravesite in Steelmantown Cemetery at 2:00 pm October 4, 2012.  In lieu of flowers you may make a donation to her favorite public radio stations WBGO and WWFM in her memory.
