Obituary

April 1, 2021
Catherine Ernestine Rivers, was the third child of the late Ernest T. and Mable L. Rivers.

Catherine, so often called by family and friends as Cathy, Judy or Jutz, was a product of the District of Columbia Public School System, graduating from McKinley Tech High School; as well as completing several years of college at Howard University.

She was employed 40 years, by the District and Federal Government’s administrative and auditing departments. After retiring from the Federal Government, she ventured into real estate where she worked with Murrell Realty; and worked with Bill Ampofo, owner-broker of Avalar Smart Choice Reality LLC, until stopping due to illness.

But, Jutz never let her illness get in the way of her awesome love for God, charity family and friends. She was baptized at Mount Moriah Baptist Church, located then in South West Washington DC. As years passed, she followed Unity of the Faith Ministries, under the leadership of her nephew and his wife, Dr's. H.P. and Carleen Anderson. When the Pastors moved to Florida, Jutz found and followed Ever Increasing Word Ministries, in Darrow Louisiana.

Our Jutz wanted to be a minister and attended and graduated from The Ever Increasing Word Ministries Training Center, an online college in Darrow Louisiana. She had a strong desire and dream to live in Darrow Louisiana. When she knew this dream could not happen, she joined Spirit of Faith Christian Church and attended their Perfect Classes Sessions. She then furthered her religious experience by taking online Bible courses with Spirit of Faith Christian Center Bible Institute of Oxon Hill, Maryland, until again, stopping due to illness.

Our Jutz performed numerous works of charity for various charitable organization. She always shared her love for God with Family and Friends. It was nothing for her to asked a stranger, or friend “Have you been saved?”

She was always there for Family and Friends, sharing her real estate knowledge giving rides to strangers, giving donations to those in need, and just so much more.

Jutz memory will always be cherished by her three siblings, Connie, Charles and Cherry and a host of relatives and friends.

Besides all that’s been said, the only thing Jutz wants us to remember about her is:

TGBTG!  "TO GOD BE THE GLORY"
