Memorial

March 18, 2011

It was Mom's wish to have no funeral, no memorial, and to be cremated.  Rhonda and I have chosen to participate in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk For The Cure event in November.

Even though Mom's cancer was not breast cancer, we chose this charity event in her honor in hopes of ending ALL types of cancer.

We are asking that in lieu of flowers or other gestures, that our walking team be sponsored with donations in Mom's name.

The link to support our team and make sure we get credit for the sponsorship, please follow the link below or contact one of us directly at kimberlykhood@aol.com or 214-704-5355, rmmailliard@aol.com or 817-304-4494.

Although ANY donations for cancer charities are a blessing, our team will not meet our goal if donations are simply sent to the Susan G. Komen foundation without going through this link or sent to us directly.

We are opening a trust account at First Financial Bank in Weatherford, Texas for anyone who chooses to donate without using the internet.  This account information will be posted here and on my Facebook as soon as the account is set up. The mailing address of the bank is 101 N. Main St, Weatherford TX 76086, and their phone number is 817-598-2500 if you wish to call them to verify the trust account.  I will know more on how donations will be accepted by the bank, I apologize that I am not yet familiar with how this works as I have never done any of this before.

All monies donated to support our walking team will rest in this trust fund account gathering interest until the actual even in November.

Please, if you can, help us meet our goals and honor Mom with this charity event.  Also, let us know if you are interested in joining our walking team, we would LOVE to have all the help we can get!

Final Chapter

March 18, 2011

Mom passed very peacefully into the night, at 4:18 a.m. on March 17, 2011 at UT Southwestern/St. Paul University Hospital in Dallas Texas after a ten-year battle with multiple illnesses.  In her last three months with us, she fought transplant rejection, renal failure, congestive heart failure, a very rare brain infection called Nocardia, and finally cancer.

She left this earth as gracefully and gently as she had lived, in the fashion of a candle burning out silently.  There was no struggle for her, very unlike the past decade of fighting for her life.

She was without a doubt the most brave and strong-willed person any of us have ever witnessed.
