Who Pregnant!!??

February 7, 2020
For several months, every weekend Trice and I would go sell things at the flea market and so that we wouldn't have to use the disgusting porta potty (ya'll know they are disgusting) we would not drink or eat anything for about 5 to 6 hours. This strategy didn't seem to work for Trice because she still would have to use the restroom about every 30 minutes to an hour. She would ask, "Why I gotta keep going to the restroom I didn't eat or drink anything?"
I would just chuckle and say I don't know but I am glad I don't have to go.
On one of those same days another vendor came over with small talk and asked, "which one of ya'll are pregnant?" Trice and I busted out laughing and joking ain't nobody pregnant. After the vendor left we talked about how crazy she was and she didn't know what she was talking about.
A couple weekends later after being at the flea market we decided to go to Long Horn and have lunch. When the waitress came to take our drink order I ordered a cocktail and Trice ordered water. I was puzzled and said,"ok what's the real drink?"  She said, "girrrrlllll I'm PREGNANT!"

Okay, this is a ‘SIS GOT MY BACK’ story. Who remembers KC? KC was my babygirl before Alyssa came on the scene. Cat, Tanya and I lived in some apartments off of Garden Walk Blvd sometime between ‘94 and ‘97. Catrice used to work night shift. I took KC outside about 6am to the woods by the apartments to let her run for a little bit before I had to go to work. She took off after something, probably a squirrel. Y’all do realize KC is a dog right? Anyway, no matter how long or loud I called, she didn’t come back. This is my baby so I would’ve called the cops, fire dept, or whoever to help me get her back. I went in the apt like it was it was on fire and woke Cat up. She didn’t complain, just got dressed and went outside to help me look. Short story, about an hour later she DRIVES back to the apt (I’m still outside searching) with a dirty, smelly KC in the car. I can’t tell you how far Catrice had to go to find her, but she brought my baby home that day...

Rule #1: Siblings can fight with each other all day long, but don’t let nobody else try to...
Anybody with siblings (or close cousins for that matter) knows fights are gonna happen. Everyone growing up around Catrice should remember her naturally long nails. As kids, we probably irritated each other 50 times in an hour, let alone what happened in a whole day. Because of her claws, I always had some type of welts on me. But because I chewed my fingernails, I couldn’t return the favor, which always had her looking at me with a satisfied smirk after the fact. Well one day, I got fed up. I made sure I left, what could only be called a scratch in my book (one that needed a ‘little bitty’ band-aid) and got a beat down from Momma with the ‘you’re bigger than she is, you know better, blah-blah-blah’. Ask me if I was sorry

As we all know, older siblings are supposed to take up for the younger ones... no matter what. Well back in 1991 or 1992, I came home to Momma getting on Catrice for skipping school. Now, at that time, Mom had a green Vega that was always having mechanical issues and in the shop. Mom had to go out of town and left Catrice with the car to get back and forth to Mays. Apparently the school notified Mom that Catrice didn’t make it on one of those days. Catrice was claiming the car broke down. Momma was fussing, telling Catrice that she had just gotten the car fixed and knew good and well that it hadn’t broken down. Now, I walk in in the middle of the ‘conversation’ and immediately take Catrice’s side, defending her for at least 10 to 15 minutes (or more knowing me) and coming up with all the recent breakdown history and so on. Mom tells both of us that she is NOT going to argue with us and grounds Catrice anyway. By this time, Catrice isn’t saying a word but I’m all up in arms and asking WHYYY couldn’t the car have broken down. You would’ve thought it had happened to me and nobody was believing me YET AGAIN. Now, as you’ll realize with most of these stories, Cat eventually ‘fesses up to skipping school with her BFF Brittany (days or weeks later) and I learned the hard way to let her fight her own battles with Momma.

As the oldest of siblings, we are always expected to take care of and be an example for the younger ones. Well, one day while living in Seven Courts, my mother accused me of cutting Catrice’s hair. Her hair already didn’t grow all that fast and one of her ponytails had been cut off. Mom pointed out to me that Cat was too small to even hold the scissors in a way that could’ve cut her own hair. I told her I didn’t do it, probably a million times. She even put her best friend Jimmy up to getting a confession out of me, you know like he was ‘good cop’ to her ‘bad cop’. I remember sitting on a curb in the parking lot sulking because everybody believed I had done it no matter what I said. He came over, sat down next to me, and started talking about anything and everything but Cat’s hair until he had me finally in a conversation. Then, he too, told me it would be easier if I just admitted to doing it. I felt sooooo betrayed. This lasted for YEARS. Then Catrice, just as calm and quiet as you please, decided to fess up to doing it.

Granny house first

February 6, 2020
When Anaiya and I were in elementary school and would go to our granny house, we played a game where whoever would see Granny’s house first and say “Granny house first” would win the little game.  The game was only for Anaiya and I to say but my mommy randomly joined our game and we joked about it as we got older about how our mommy tried to join our game.
