Even though she was retired, Cecilia thought it was important to keep learning even through retirement.  While Karla went back to Boston University to study Medicine, Cecilia enrolled in studies for Gerontology to be better prepared for her aging days.  
The Frank J. Manning Undergraduate Certificate in Gerontology provides students with an understanding of the aging network and aging process through direct service, research, field placements and legislative advocacy for the elderly. It is designed for individuals currently working in or new to the field of Gerontology.

Determinants of linguistic and communicative competence of second language learners of English in the University of the Philippines Integrated School

This study attempted to relate Filipino learner factors to second language achievement. The findings of the study showed that intelligence, surgency and dependability correlate highly and positively with communicative competence. The findings tend to support previous research findings that communicative competence and linguistic competence are interrelated but separate constructs. The author recommends the reintensification of the teaching of grammar in Philippine ESL classrooms.
