Cecilia Uzoyibo Omoyinbo

Throughout her 81 years of life, Mrs Cecilia Uzoyibo Omoyinbo lived reputable life and was admired by all for her beauty, strength, humility. hardworking nature and resilience.  
 Mummy was born on the 1st of January 1940 into the family of Nzekwe from Iwollo, Ezeagu Local Government of Enugu State.  She was the first child of her loving parents, Late Mr Francis and Late Mrs Margaret Nzekwe.  She spent her early years with her parents and siblings.  Her younger brother, Engr. Donatus Nzekwe, a Bulgarian trained Metallurgical Engineer and rtd. Lecturer of Enugu State University of Science & Technology, her sister, Mrs Alice Okechi, married to Mr Linus Okechi, former Editor in Chief and MD of Daily Star and former Press. Secretary to the Enugu State Governor and her sister, Regina Okenchi, married to Military personnel.      
Growing up, mummy had the opportunity to live in the East, North and West of Nigeria, making her skilled in speaking Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa and English languages fluently.  From the East, she and her family moved to the North where she attended St. Theresa’s Convent School in Jos and Kano from 1948 till 1955 and obtained Middle II School Leaving Certificate.  Afterwards, she moved to the West to pursue her interest in Nursing and Midwifery.  From 1957 till 1965, she furthered her education at St. Louis Combined Hospital Owo where she thrived and achieved a Midwifery Grade I and II on 28th December 1965. 

While training at General Hospital Iwo, she met her husband, late Michael Akindele Omoyinbo, a renowned Pharmacist.  Owner of Universal Pharmacy & Chemists and former secretary of Pharmaceutical Association of Nigeria.  He was from Ifon, Ose Local Government, Ondo State.  They got married on the 23rd of February 1963 at Saint Mary Catholic Cathedral.
 She excelled in her career as a Midwife and was employed by the Oyo State Hospital Management Board. She worked in various hospitals such as Iwo General Hospital, District Hospital Aiyepe,  Odogbolu General Hospital, Ogbomoso General Hospital, Oyo State Hospital, Oyo, Jericho Nursing Home, Jericho Maternity Hospital, Ibadan and eventually retired as a Chief Matron Officer at Adeoyo Maternity Hospital in Ibadan on the 27th of June 2001.  
You will always find Mama attending a seminar or training because she was keen on developing herself and learning new things in medical field and in businesses.   
Mummy was also known for her peaceful and fair nature.  It is no wonder that on the 25th of May 1998, she was certified by the Ministry of Justice of Oyo State Government as a Justice of Peace.  In this role, she assisted the Oyo State Government in the dispensation of justice and maintenance of peace and tranquillity in the State.                      
She was a devoted Catholic who never misses Catholic doctrine and Mass.   She was an active member of Catholic Women Organisation (CWO).  Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, baking, gardening, travelling especially to visit her children and grandchildren who were a major part of her life.
She built a wonderful family with five children and many grandchildren who will continue to carry her legacy.
May her gentle soul rest in the bossom of the Lord (Amen).
