Charles Schroeder, known affectionately as Chuck, passed away suddenly on November 27, 2023, at the age of 60 in Camden, New Jersey. Born on July 25, 1963 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Chuck was a vibrant and joyful individual who had an undeniable zest for life.

Chuck had a magnetic personality that lit up any room he entered. His boisterous laughter and infectious joy were contagious, leaving everyone around him unable to resist joining in. Chuck's eyes would twinkle with delight as he threw his head back in laughter, bringing happiness to all those fortunate enough to be in his presence.

One of Chuck's greatest joys in life was spending time at the beach, taking long walks in the sand and basking in the warmth of the sun. He also had a deep love for travel, and in the last year of his life, he had the opportunity to explore the world extensively. Chuck cherished the good things in life and embraced every moment with enthusiasm.

During the pandemic, Chuck made the decision to move back home after many years on the West Coast, to be closer to his family, and these last few years spent together were a true blessing. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and could be relied upon for the most captivating stories about his life and adventures. Chuck's love extended not only to his family and friends but also to animals. He had a special place in his heart for his beloved dogs, who have since passed away, and he leaves behind two cherished rabbits named Finn and Russell.

Chuck's warm and caring nature also blessed his nieces and nephews, and the next generation of his great nieces and nephews. He was an unbelievably fun and devoted Uncle to each and everyone of them and they adored him in turn. He included them in caring for his pets, tending to his garden, and various other chores around the house. He could often be seen sporting any number of interesting clothing and shoe choices such as spiked shoes to randomly aerate the lawn or cowboy hats from one of his many traveling adventures. Those lucky enough to have been wrapped in Chuck's love and light were truly blessed, and his loss is already deeply felt and will continue to be for years to come.

Throughout his career, Chuck dedicated his talents and expertise to working in Hazardous Waste Management and Environmental Services, making a significant impact in his field. His commitment to preserving and protecting the environment was commendable, and his contributions will be remembered.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, December 11, 2023 in the Catholic Community of the Holy Spirit Parish Center, 17 Earlington Ave., Mullica Hill, NJ 08062. Visitation 10:30am-12 noon, followed by a time of remembrance to honor Chuck's remarkable life. Mass will begin at 12:30pm. Friends and family are invited to attend and pay their respects. Visitation and Mass will be held in the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Gloucester County, NJ Animal Shelter in Chuck's memory. Contributions can be made online at https://www.gloucestercountynj.gov/211/Donate-to-Us.

Chuck Schroeder's departure has left a void that cannot be filled. His laughter, love, and light will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in eternal peace.

My dearest Chuck,
you never said I am leaving, you never said goodbye. You were gone before I knew it, and only God knew why. A million times I need you, a million times I cry.
If Love alone could have saved you, you never would have gone.
In life I loved you dearly, in death I loved your still. In my heart you hold a place, that no one could ever feel. It broke my heart to lose you, but you didn't go alone, part of me went with you, the day the universe took you home.
I will cherish all the memories we made together.
May you rest in peace my dear friend Chuck and I will see you again.
Love

Chuck and I bonded immediately when I was the only one to show up to help him move in S.F. (twice), and then again to AZ. He was truly one of the kindest, caring, and most considerate men I have ever known. We used to laugh about what "Mama's boys" we were and how, much to our siblings chagrin, we were both "the favorite". Love you my friend. Blessed be.

I met Chuck in 2019 when he was living in Portland. We instantly became friends. He used to let me stay with him when I was in Portland for work. We had a wonderful time. I can still, and always will, hear his laugh. Peace and blessings…

Being in Chuck’s company was always a mini adventure. You could start with a wonderful tale of his many travels and end up in the backyard with him proudly showing off the bunnies. His smile was the clue that all were in for a wonderful, funny ride. Simply the best..

Chuck was my work therapist, mentor, and friend. He was always there to listen, provided wisdom, and got me to smile. And all of that while we worked in different states. He was wonderful.

I didn’t know Chuck long. My association with him was through my daughter’s marriage to his nephew, but whenever I was with him at family functions he and I would share many of the common, yet funny, corporate buzzwords and saying and would laugh endlessly about them. His stories about his many vacations and trips were always entertaining. I last saw him at my daughter and son-in-laws Halloween Party and was and still am shocked at his passing. Such a tragic loss for, not only his family, but the world in general. I will miss him greatly. “Uncle Chuck” was one of a kind.
