Eulogy

May 28, 2017

(created and presented by Jared Beasley)

Charles Lee Brost, father, brother, friend. He was born at Fort Ord Army Hospital situated just south of  Santa Cruz in the Monterey Bay area of California on June 4, 1955. Chuck graduated from Clear Lake High School in Lakeport, California in the spring of 1973.

He then enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1974 and performed his Basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX. After graduation from basic he was stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Montana with the 341st Security Forces Group under the operation and direction of the Strategic Air Command. While stationed there, in March of 1976, the woman he had been in a relationship with gave birth to his daughter, Katrina. After 4 years in the United States Air Force, he get out of the service.

In 1980, he enlisted again into the military, but this time with the United States Navy where he went into the job rating of Fire Controlman and went through boot camp and Fire Controlman "A" school in Great Lakes, Illinois. He was stationed on mulitple different ships during his time in the Navy including the aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea, the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, and the cruiser USS Halsey.

During his time in the military he had been awarded numerous awards and accomedations including: Air Force Presedential Unit Citation, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Navy good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Award, Air Force Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Navy Pistol Marksmanship Medal.

After the service, he worked numerous different jobs in the field of electronic technology to include Verbatim, Magma, and for roughly the last ten years, Solar Turbines.

Chuck was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders of America motorcycle group, the San Diego chapter for almost 16 years. As well as being a lifetime club member of the AMA, the American Motorcylcists Association, for nearly the past 25 years.

He leaves behind his life partner of upwards to the past 30 years Chris Kibler, his daughter Katrina Beasley and his siblings, Deborah Hamilton, Joel Brost, Blaine Brost, Jimmy Kelly, and Autumn Lunsford.

Mahatma Ghandi said, "Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever."

Chuck was only 60 yrs young when he passed. Prime example that life is too short, and that us as human beings have a tendency to take life for granted. Make the time while on this Earth mean something, if not for you, at least for someone else.

In closing i have two more quotes that i find inspiring and that i believe Chuck would have emulated with.

"Your time is limited. Don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by Dogma, which is living the result of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of other's opinions drown your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition, they somehow    already know what you truly want to become. everything else is secondary."

                                                                                    Steve Jobs

"It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who have died. Rather we should thank god that such men have lived."

                                                                                    General George S. Patton

On behalf of Chis Kibler and my wife, Katrina, we thank everyone for showing up to this ceremony today. After the conclusion of the services here, I invite all to join in Chuck's celebration of life which will be held at the El Cajon VFW Hall off of Chambers Street to share your stories and personal reflections.
