Mr. Charles A. Lovelace of West Point , GA expired Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Emory University Hospice Center, Atlanta, GA.
Funeral services for Mr. Charles A. Lovelace will be held on Monday, August 3, 2015, 11:00 AM, ET at the St. John Community Baptist Church, Lanett, AL.
Ministers: Rev. Eric Dowdell, Pastor, Eulogist, Rev. Walter L. Darden, Rev Sr., W. H. Trammell, Assisting
Burial will be held in the St. John Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 2, 2015 from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the M.W. Lee Mortuary
M. W. Lee Mortuary of West Point has charge of arrangements.

To the Family of Charles Lovelace:
On behalf of all of the relatives of Katherine ("Pet") E. (Hanna) Lovelace, I want to express our deep felt sympathy for you in the loss of one that we all loved so dear. We knew him as our Uncle Charles. I was the ring bearer when he and Aunt Pet were married in December 1967. He was not an "in law". He was our Uncle Charles. We loved him because he loved our Aunt. We loved him because he allowed our Grandmother, Katie Hanna, to live with them for nearly 15 years. We loved him because he was funny. We loved him because he was great provider. We loved him because he was a great cook. We loved him bcause he was so knowledgable about the world events. We loved him because he was just so loveable.
We are sorry that we could not be there to mourn the loss with you. But, know that you are in our continued prayers. May the peace of God which passes all understanding keep your hearts and minds by Christ Jesus.

On behalf of our family, Irvin and Mary Hanna Robinson (brother and sister in-law), Marcus and Saundra Robinson (nephew), Rebecca and Edward Hughes (niece), Lori and Lionel Ealy (niece) and David Robinson (nephew), we offer our deepest sympathy and condolences for Uncle Charles Lovelace and his family.
While we are unable to attend his service, we wanted the family to know how much we loved Uncle Charles and share a few fond memories. Uncle Charles and Aunt Pet (Kathy) lived in Cleveland for as long as we can remember. We always looked forward to visiting them because we knew we'd have a great time. My sister's still recall that every time they saw him, they had to just "rub" his bald head and give it a big kiss! The house was always filled with love and lots of laughter, with most of those moments happening in the kitchen. Whether it was on Euclid or Saybrook Street, we'd gather at the kitchen table. Aunt Pet would make a meal that still brings a smile to our faces, but the laughter would come watching Uncle Charles eat! And boy could our Uncle Charles eat! When he left the table, trust me, that plate was clean!
Not only was he a man that loved food, he love to be well dressed. He took great pride in his personal appearance and it showed, whether he was going to church, the grocery store, by bus of course, or hanging out with his friends. A sharp dresser that could also wear a hat. I still try to wear hats like he did. I always will.
While we miss him terribly, we will never forget the hugs or hearing him say how much he loved all of us. We loved him equally so.
Rest in peace Uncle Charles, beside your one true love, Aunt Pet. You will forever live in our hearts.

I am a sister-in-law to Charles Lovelace. I remember going to Cleveland just about every year to visit my sister Katherine E (Hanna) Lovelace and Charles. We had a good times there. He was such a good cook who could make some good fried corn, greens with hot peppers. He loved good food, liked to keep up with the news. He always took a bus to where he wanted to go. He always had a garden in the backyard that he took pride in getting it ready for producing. He was one of the sharpest dressers around. I surely miss those times. While he was in Cleveland, OH, he attended the Mt. Olivet Church of God in Christ. He served as a Sunday School Supt. and a deacon. He was loved by all of his nieces and nephews.
