On Tuesday, February 5, 2019, Charles “Chuck” Wayne Meador, loving husband and father to three children, passed away at the age of 66.

Chuck was born on September 2, 1952 to Dan and Elaine (Ladwig) Meador in Kirksville, MO. He married Beverly Jane “BJ” Lokey on March 22, 1975.  They had two daughters, and one son. Carrie (Scott) Meador-Bliss of Davenport, IA; Katie Meador of Louisville, KY; and Adrian (Kim) Meador of Luck, WI.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dan “Doc”, his mother, Elaine Meador, his Wife, Beverly, and a niece, Amanda Meador.  He is survived by his three children, Carrie, Katie, and Adrian, grandsons Alex, Taylor, Aiden and Kolten, and granddaughter, Kenadi.  He is also survived by his brother Mike Meador, and sister, Dana Taylor, as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Chuck graduated from Bettendorf High School in 1971, and was appointed to the Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland.  Chuck served in the Navy from 1972-1976, assigned to the USS Nimitz as a Machinist Mate 3rd class.  After his service in the navy, he returned to the Quad Cities, and was employed at Caterpillar, earned a Bachelors in Business from St. Ambrose University in 1986, worked for G&K Services, and eventually became self employed as a truck driver for Long Haul Trucking, and retired in 2016.

Chuck loved woodworking, and building things with his hands, and he combined his two favorite hobbies to create extraordinary art. His crafts were much admired by friends and family, especially his children who got to enjoy the items he created.  He was an avid lover of music, enjoyed fishing, and loved to collect National Geographic magazines.  He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit.This compassionate spirit often shined when he was able to make a difference in the lives of Veteran’s in the St. Cloud MN area.

A funeral service/burial will be held on Friday, March 1, 2019 at the Rock Island Arsenal at 2:30 p.m..  A celebration of life will be held at the VFW at 2814 State Street, Bettendorf, on Saturday, March 2, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m..

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the ST. CLOUD VA, 4801 VETERANS DRIVE, ST. CLOUD, MN 56303 ATTN: VOLUNTARY SERVICE.  Include in the memo line: “In Memory of Charles Meador”.

Carrie and Family,
