His Life
April 13, 2021
Charles joined the Volunteer Fire Department when he was in his 50′s. He served for nearly 8 years before losing his life this week in a motorcycle wreck on U.S. Route 33.

A position as volunteer firefighter is one that often attracts younger people, although not as many as it used to. Charles brought a lifetime of experience to the job.

He was formerly involved with the Coast Guard, as he was a former paramedic, and he just wanted to help as many people as he could. He wanted to give his life purpose.

“He was bigger than life. So now, to imagine him in the past is really hard to do.”
