ForeverMissed
Charles Zdzislaw Czarnowski was an amazing man. He was brilliant, and funny, and the most loving and devoted father. He healed thousands of people, he truly explored the world, and he was loved by so many. Words cannot do his life justice. He was exceedingly generous. He was always helping someone, and he always did it with a smile. His spirit will live on through all the good he added to the world.
We love you. We miss you. Always.

Due to covid, the funeral will be private, attended by immediate family only. Once regulations allow, we hope to have a celebration of life befitting such a well-loved man.

It is with a heavy heart as I just learned of the passing of Dr. Charles Czarnowski, our wonderful former Family Doctor. Not aware of his passing, we spoke of him just last week wishing he was back caring for us.  His care of my mother helped extend her life in comfort for which we have always been so thankful. His generosity, gentle, calming manner, and winning smile will always be etched in my mind. I had the privilege of working as his secretary years ago. When our pet Lab hurt her paw, he stopped on his way home from work, with is little daughter,  to help heal her cut. I still see him explaining to her how he wrapped the wound. What a generous man.
We love you and will always remember you as exceptional.
Yes, FOREVER MISSED.
Most sincerely

Our family were patients of our beloved Dr.C since the late 1990’s . It is because of him that we came to the downtown clinic all the way from Kemptville and south west Ottawa !
As a physician he was excellent , a great diagnostician , patient, super listener, never rushed his patients, and he had an abundant knowledge of vitamins herbs and alternative medicines. If he was unsure of anything his ego never stood in the way of admitting he needed to refer you to a specialist and was very prompt with getting you referrals, and results.

As a human being Dr.C was the ultimate gentleman …he never entered a room without shaking your hand and making you feel like a friend, when running into Dr.C in social places like a soccer field a picnic or restaurant he always made a point of coming over and greeting you, and engaging you in small conversation. .
He was empathetic, compassionate , and a very kind human being.
We were devastated a few years ago when he retired , but we’re soothed by the fact that this wonderful human being was enjoying his golden years
.
Our family is so sorry to hear of his passing and we hope that our deepest condolences are giving you some peace.
Rest In Peace , Dr. C you will always be founded remembered .

Dear Charles,
Leszek and I met you 27 years ago when we came to Ottawa. I still remember that day at Polaczkowo soccer field, you were wearing a headband, enjoyed playing soccer, and immediately started conversation with us, a total strangers to you!
Since then you became our family doctor and a very special friend. You took such a good care of our whole family. Thanks to you Leszek survived a lung cancer and my father survived leukemia. You were such an exceptional and dedicated doctor.
The time we spent together was always interesting and happy. We cherished all the moments, all the trips we took together, tennis games, soccer games, fishing and never ending funny conversations.
You were very special to us and we will always remember you and have you in our hearts forever.
Rest In Peace Zdzislaw

Our deepest condolences to Alicja and the whole family

Dr. Czarnowski was my family doctor for most of my life. He helped me so many times, doing things I still remember to this day, he would always go above in beyond what I expected. Not only me, but my mother and father and even my Babcia Aldona, Dr. Czarnowski always made an effort to make sure we are ok. He was such a caring and good hearted person. His knowledge has helped and saved countless lives. A truly great person and I am deeply saddened by his passing. Dziękuję za wszystko.

Deep from my heart comes the wish to pay my personnel respect to Charles, our friend and long time family doctor.
It was in 2011, when after lab tests, a tumour was discovered in my body. Charles phoned me right away and told me how serious it was. Then he swung into action and in three days got me an appointment with a top Ottawa surgeon . Due to the speed of intervention the tumour was removed entirely and a spreading of the cancerous cells was stopped. Charles your quick action saved my life. Thanks to you, I can stand here in the Church today and pay tribute to you as a good friend and an outstanding doctor. Grazyna and I owe you an immense mountain of gratitude and we will never forget you. God bless and may you rest in peace.

It deeply saddens my heart to hear of Dr. C’s passing. He was known to me as well by the name Charles, but I always called him Dr. C out of a dear respect for his generous, alive, and passionate spirit. I met him first in 2005. He was my family medicine preceptor during both years of my family medicine residency at the Bruyere, and continued to be a friend and mentor to me after my residency. I consider him to be, hands down, one of the best mentors I have ever had.  I consider myself truly fortunate to have him as a mentor, teacher, and friend. The gods must have been smiling upon me the day that residents were matched up with their preceptors! Dr. C embodied the qualities of kindness, joyfulness, zest for life, and a deep caring that sets a wise benchmark that anyone would be well served to strive for, regardless of their profession or place in life. I wish I could have more time with him just to experience his wonderful presence. Sending my deepest condolences and heartfelt wishes to his family, friends, and all those mourning his passing. May we rest a bit more easily knowing from a deep well of awareness that such great spirits will never, ever be forgotten.

May you Rest In Peace, my dear teacher, mentor, and friend.

ALWAYS yours in friendship, deep gratitude, and love...

I was saddened to hear this news today! I worked for the partnership which Dr. Czarnowski was a member of. It was a privilege and an honour to work for this gentleman. He was kind, caring and appreciative of the staff who worked for him at the partnership level!

He was a man who was in the profession for the right reasons, a consummate professional and a role model for his residents who truly loved him for his humanity and compassion.

Rest in peace you gem of a man, what a loss! Sincere sympathies to all of your family members, former colleagues, partners, residents, and your many friends. I hope we will meet again someday! It will be such an honour and a true privilege for me!

Charles was a most exceptional doctor at Bruyere family medicine centre, one of the most approachable preceptors I had. I so enjoyed traveling to Bolivia with him. He lived life and practiced medicine without any fear or trepidation. He always advocated for those around him. I was always in awe of him. May his soul attain peace.

I feel privileged to have had Dr.Czarnowski as my preceptor at Bruyere. He was an exceptional teacher… knowledgeable, thorough and deliberate in testing, enthusiastic about teaching new skills and always patient. He was thoughtful and compassionate with patients, and with his residents. He lit up the room with his energy and smile, and everyone loved him. Joining him for an international elective in Panama was the highlight of my residency, and it was amazing to witness his zest for life and humour outside of the clinic.

Dr.C had a powerful impact on so many people. His passion for family medicine and strong work ethic helped to mold many students and residents into skillful family physicians. My condolences to his family, friends, and patients. He will be greatly missed.

Dr. Czarnowski, you were my very first doctor here in Canada from 2 years old all the way through my childhood, teenage and then early adult years. I can't express how incredibly knowledgeable, brilliant, kind, comforting, and compassionate you were. He was the type of doctor you could have complete trust in that he would take care of you. You would go to his office and his warm smile made you feel certain that you were in good hands, he left no stone unturned when it came to his patients well being. He was part of the reason I was inspired to go to pharmacy school and he never forgot to ask about my progress when he saw me. My whole life I told people I have the best polish doctor. You will be so greatly missed Dr Czarnowski ,thank you for everything you did throughout all these years for my family and I, you were always there when we needed you. Alicia, my heartfelt condolences go out to you, your dad will always be remembered, loved and missed so much.

A very good man. A generous soul. A great Doctor.

Dr C. as my kids called him, drew people to him with his warm personality and his expert medical advice. You were always in good hands when he was at the clinic. He must have helped tens of thousands of patients.

He was always too busy, but he always appreciated a joke. His eyes would light up and smile, and get back to business. “Seriously you must take blood tests…” He loved blood tests, and metrics.

He gave back. He volunteered to help in some of the harshest conditions around the world. He would return with stories right out of a novel.

RIP Dr. C! and thank you.

I’ve known Charles for decades from the day he walked in to interview as a resident at Bruyère, and then became one of our most fascinating resident physicians. His zest for life, his passion for medicine, his “out of the box” way of thinking were immeasurable. He was humble, kind, caring, compassionate, knowledgeable and went out of his way to help his patients.
Charles was my mother’s family physician, and he was largely responsible for her living until the age of 88, she adored him. Thank you Charles for all you did for so many over the years. Know that you were loved and respected. Long live his wit, his adventurous spirit, and engaging smile. Back in the day as part of the “old” gang at the Family Medicine Centre I used to call him, Bruyere’s Indiana Jones, safe journey Charles!  You will be deeply missed, but will never, ever be forgotten.

My deepest condolences to you Alicia, he was so very proud of you always!

Dear Charles,
I remember the day when I met you the first time. I was introduced to you as a new doctor, who just came to Ottawa from Poland. You offered me help right away.
Then you became my mentor and my teacher. WE successfully graduated my residency and your exceptional commencement speech made me feel so special. You were my role model. Your dedication and devotion to patients were unprecedented and unlimited.                                       I admired your knowledge, your skills, your humor, your energy and drive to explore the world to help all those in need.                             Our Polish community ow you so much that it is even hard to imagine.        I am one of them.                                                       Always thinking about you.

My condolences for you my dear Ally and your family. I have so many fond memories growing up with Charles. As children, he always encouraged our curiosity and had so much belief in our adventures. From telling us stories about his trips to South America to planning treasure hunts for us, he loved adventure and gave us the confidence to go out on our own adventures. I couldn’t wait to hear stories about his latest trips… I’ll never forget the mammoth bone he brought back and then we all went together to donate it together to the Natural History museum. Another fond memory was how proud he was of you Ally… when you were valedictorian for your grade school class he was beaming with pride (he also swooped into help someone who had fallen sick during the ceremony). He had a zest for life that I always see in you Ally. His memory will live on in our hearts.
