Mr. Philpot was born in Lee County, AL to the late Mr. Jimmy Frank and Ethel Mae Philpot. He served in the United States Army and worked at the West Point Foundry for many years.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jim Howell, his brother, Willie Frank Philpot, and nieces, Jennifer McCullough, and Tammy Summers.

He leaves to cherish his memory a son, Charlie (Phyllis) Howell , West Point, GA;, a daughter, Gwendolyn (Andrew) Cotton, Atlanta, GA; sister, Sarah Lee Howell, West Point, GA; three grandchildren, Charmeka Brown, Recarlis Howell , Valley, AL; Ayinde Mass, Atlanta, GA;  six great  grandchildren, special nieces and nephews, Sandra (Rodney)Heard,  Lanett, AL, Michael (Kim) Howell, Atlanta, GA.,  Aretha Howell, Willie Philpot, West Point, GA, James (Rose) Philpot , Gasden, AL, Tracy Brooks, Angela McCray, Danny (Rachel) Howell , Stacey (Paul) McCullough, Latoyal (Morris) McCullough, Portia and Labrone Howell, Lanett, AL; Randy(Michelle) and Jeff(Lashonda) Howell , Atlanta, GA; Kenny Philpot , West Point, GA; Tabitha (Kenny) Philpot, Willie Frank, Philpot, Jr., Chris and Deshannon Walton, and a host of other relatives and friends.
