Cheri J. Rief, 51, of West Point died Monday, May 21, 2012, at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point.

She was born Sept. 7, 1960, in Omaha to Larry and Barbara (Felton) Bigge. She grew up in Omaha, attended Omaha Central High School and graduated from Millard South High School. She was married to David Novotny. She provided daycare in her home and later worked at Brown Baggers, took reservations for OMNI Hotels and had been working at Mutual of Omaha in Blair until she got sick. She married Ken Rief on Aug. 27, 2010.

Survivors include: her husband, Ken Rief of West Point; her mother, Barb Felton of North Bend; her children, Nikki and Josh Markle of Fremont, Heather and Dwight Lawson of Plattsmouth and Tony Novotny of West Point; stepchildren, Dustin and Jaqueline Rief of West Point, Heather and Jeremiah Johnson of Wilcox and Brittany and Mike Sones of Manchester, Iowa; brothers, Terry Bigge, Mike and Diane Bigge of Omaha and Rich Bigge, all of Omaha; stepmother, Dee Bigge of Omaha; two grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

hey mom justed wanted to stop by and say hi. it been 10 months since u went to heaven.... i have been missing you every single min,sec mili sec. and i wish you where still here. you are the best mother  i could ever wish for. u made me laugh when i was down . always worried where i  was at even though i didnt like it i made me feel safe in my heart. mom i wish you where still here cause we could of went bowling and enjoy our time togeather
