Cheryl Ann Pivetta died suddenly on March 14, 2016 at her home in Bloomfield Hills, MI. Cheryl is survived by her husband Louis Pivetta, son Alexander Joseph (A.J.) and daughter Lisa Marie, her mother Dolores Bard Anderson, her sister Michelle Bard, her brother Brian Bard and his wife Jennifer Bannan (and their children Tova, Desmond and Cypress), brother Stephen Bard and step-brother Kevin Anderson. She is preceded in death by her father Harold Bard, her step-father Dennis Anderson and her Uncle and Aunt, Jo and Ginny Krymow. She also leaves Louis’ parents Walter and Shirley Pivetta Sr., Louis’ sister Roberta and her husband Robert Sorrentino (and their children Tina, Stephanie and Brittney), Louis’ brother Walter Pivetta Jr. and his wife Amy (and their children Dale, Jessica and Danielle), along with many other cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Cheryl Ann Bard was born June 8, 1966 in Detroit, the second of four children to Dolores and Harold Bard. Although she lost her father at only 2 years old, she had a busy, active childhood including many trips to her family’s “Up North” chalet for swimming, biking, hiking and skiing. Cheryl was the most talented among her family members at finding the perfect Petoskey stone, and she taught many a young person the finer points of the pursuit. She loved the grand and peaceful view of Lake Michigan and was inclined to suggest a drive through the “Tunnel of Trees.” Her love for Up North continued throughout her life, and later included trips to the Pivetta family get-away as well, where her favorite winter sport was snowmobiling.
Cheryl married her high school sweetheart Louis Pivetta on June 18, 1988 at a mass attended by hundreds. They were committed to creating the perfect home, where Cheryl gardened in the summer and the whole family built a skating rink to enjoy in the winter. Cheryl was likely to catch up with friends and family when she was on the evening walks she enjoyed with the family’s dog Buddy Baxter, and also loved walking with her husband at local parks, especially Cranbrook. In addition to their many trips to visit family and friends, Cheryl and Lou and the kids vacationed in many other locations including Europe, Punta Cana, and Hawaii. Besides all her very active pursuits Cheryl loved to settle in with a good book whenever she got the chance. She was a devoted parent, working as a stay-at-home mom during her children’s formative years, ensuring their involvement in multiple activities, and diligently seeing them through the difficult college application process.
Cheryl graduated from the University of Michigan-Dearborn. In her early career Cheryl was an accomplished marketing executive at Unisys and Stroh Brewery and later at McCann where she represented Fortune 500 companies. Recently Cheryl took on duties as one of her mother-in-law Shirley’s home health aides.
Cheryl had tremendous energy and a desire for healing and for being there for everyone she knew. She inspired a love of adventure and fun in her children and all those around her, and was there for everyone with the most delicious meals, the sharpest observations, and always a big laugh. She will be deeply, deeply missed.

Can't believe she's gone
Cheryl has been a wonderful sister-in-law to me, so welcoming to me and my kids and then the new baby that Brian and I had after we married. It won't be the same without her. I love her and I'm so sorry to her children and Lou and all who loved her so very much. I wish there was a way we could get her back.
On the Altar
Cheryl and I stood on the altar in the wedding party, backing up Dennis & Dolores on their wedding day in 1994. I went from being an only child to having 2 brothers and 2 sisters that day. Cheryl, Michelle, Brian and Steve welcomed me in as if I had always been there. It was such a joy watching Cheryl and Lou bring up their two youngsters AJ and Lisa. We shared so many great meals, 2 fantastic trips to Europe and many Christmas holidays. Cheryl was all about family and I thank my lucky stars to be included in hers. She was one of the sweetest and most gracious people you could ever meet and I miss her deeply. RIP Cheryl. You will always be one of the brightest lights in our shared universe!
