His Life

Residing in Columbus since 1976, Mr. Bruce retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of services. A Supervisor of Physical Examinations at Martin Army Community Hospital, he also retired after 20 years of service. He also had been employed as a Housing Manager for the Columbus Urban League and in the Card Processing Dept at Synovus(CB&T). Mr. Bruce received his MBA from Troy State University. A devout Christian, he was a member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church and its Deacons Ministry, Budget Committee and served as a Sunday School Teacher. He was a Prince Hall Mason and one of the founders of Les Bron Comrade Civic and Social Club. He coached youth football in Columbus and Ft. Benning, GA.

Other than his mother, he was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Bruce.

Surviving other than his father are a loving wife of 50 years, Mrs. Edna Bruce; a son, Anthony Bruce(Kimberly); a daughter, Angela Giles(Arnold); a granddaughter, Olivia Bruce; a brother, Donald Bruce(Joy); an aunt, Daisy Honor; 1st cousin, Margaret Jenkins; and a host of loving relatives and friends.
