ForeverMissed

We mourn the loss of a wonderful lady who touched our lives and brought joy and laughter to so many. A loving mother, a wonderful grandmother, a caring sister, a lively aunty, a dear friend and an empathetic confidant, who was a church and community leader with boundless love and energy that was truly unmatched.

A beautiful, compassionate, iconic and astute trailblazer in her work career that peaked with her becoming Private Secretary to former Prime Minister, Alhaji Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, KBE. She was also a community and business leader in the post independence period, amongst the Efiks, Who became a source of inspiration to more people than she will ever know. A vibrant and compassionate soul who loved to meet and talk to people from all walks of life. Her family, her culture and her beloved Christ and church community remained her true focus till the very end.

Mma, Aunty or Mma Kasali as she was popularly known, was born on February 12, 1932. Sadly, passed away on 11 September 2015.

While comforting words are of little consolation in these difficult times, we truly hope that the tremendous outpouring of support we have so far received validates the high regard that everyone had for her. And if the outpouring of sympathy on her loss is any indication of a life well lived, we can proudly and confidently say that hers was indeed a life worthy of emulation.

Although we will all miss the happy and challenging times we shared with you, Mama, we take solace in the knowledge that you have gone to be with the Father and Creator of all things and, we know that his love for us is deep and eternal.

Lord and for her Predeceased Son Essien Ita! I can see the smile on her
Face because the pain she endured for the loss of her Son was too much! Mum; we have laughed, cried and prayed together and I know you are Resting in Perfect Peace! Hug Essien for Me!

To the Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. In America we have a saying absent from the body, present with the Lord. She is now in the Father's loving arms, with no more cares of this world. Rejoice in that. Let the good memories keep you in comfort. I pray that the Father's peace and comfort are with you during this diffcult time. God Bless

Chief Mrs Ekanem was indeed a source of inspiration and encouragement to many who were privileged to meet her. The passion and love with which her extended family members always talked about her is sufficient prove. Even death cannot take away these memories and lovely footprints. Rest in Perfect peace Mama.
