CHIEF JULIUS ADENIYI MARINHO (JP), was born on Monday 18th July 1927, at 33 Inabere Street Lagos Island, Lagos State, Nigeria to late Pa Macullino Daniel Marinho, Grandson of Pedro Marinho, a Brazilian Descendant and Ma Johanna Ayinke Marinho of the Bastos Family in Lagos.
Chief Julius Marinho attended Salvation Army Central Primary School Lagos, and completed his Secondary School education at Eko Boys High School Lagos in 1945.
In 1951, Chief Marinho and two of his friends, members of a social club in Campus Square, Lagos, enlisted in the Nigeria Police Force. Due to hard work and dedication to duties, Chief Marinho was recommended and selected as one of the pioneer cadets of the “E” Department, Nigeria Police Force. The Department later became The Special Branch, and in 1976 metamorphosized to Nigeria Security Organisation (NSO) which, was later reorganized into the Department of State Services (DSS) in 1986.
In 1957, by divine arrangement, Young Constable Julius Adeniyi Marinho, married his heart throb, Felicia Mojoyinola Ashabi OLUFADE, of Agooba, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria.
Chief Marinho served his Nation in different capacities and places including; Abakaliki, Idi-Iroko, Lagos, Enugu, Abeokuta and finally retired and settled in Lagos in 1984. While in service, Chief Marinho attended several Security and Intelligence courses within and outside the country. Furthermore, he served the Federal Government of Nigeria in the Security and Intelligence community meritoriously for 33 years, in a quiet but overly critical role in Nation Building and National Security. After retirement from NSO, he worked with the Nigeria Agip Oil Company for a period of five years as a Security Consultant.
Chief Marinho was a devout Catholic, whose faith took prominence throughout his life. He was a parishioner at Holy Cross Cathedral Catholic Church, Church of Assumption Catholic Church Falomo, St Teresa Catholic Church ifako Agege and finally, Our Lady of Holy Rosary Catholic Church Oke Ira Ogba. He was a philanthropist, supported numerous charities and civic initiatives both within and outside the church. He was also a member of the Prestigious Lagos Island Club,
Chief Marinho is survived by his wife of 64 years of marriage, Mrs. Felicia Mojoyinola Ashabi Marinho; Children; Anthony Olayemi Marinho, Ambassador Francisca Olaide Ayinke Marinho FCA fsi, Louisa Ibironke Ezekiel, Celestina Folashade Marinho, Charles Babajide Marinho, Francis Oluwagboyega Marinho, John Olushola Marinho and Anthonia Yetunde Samuel-Stober (step daughter); many beautiful Grandchildren, Great grandchildren, Junior brother, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews. He was also father and grandfather to many in his neighborhood, Lagos, Abuja, London, America and indeed around the world.
Chief Julius Adeniyi Marinho took his last breath on Friday, 2nd July 2021 @ 12.55 am, aged 93 Years, 11 Months, and 14 days.
