His Life
March 4, 2021
On February 24th, Chris Richardson had a heart attack and passed away at his home in Olympia, Washington.

Chris was a tireless innovator in Indian Country, a founding TCSA board member, and our second Chairperson. An enrolled Chehalis Tribal member, Chris worked for 20 years in various management roles in Tribal enterprise government, most recently as the Managing Director at Chehalis Tribal Enterprises, where he was responsible for the Tribe’s convenience stores, construction company, and the new Talking Cedar brewery and distillery. Talking Cedar was his baby and a huge accomplishment, as it was the first legally operated tribal-owned brewery and distillery.

It's impossible to overstate what Chris meant to our organization and to all of us. He was a friend, networker, mentor, a proud dad to two daughters, and a life-long learner who had just completed his MBA at Washington State University. He had an infectious laugh, a mischievous smile, and a big heart. Not only did Chris sit on our board for years, but he also volunteered on the boards of several local organizations including Big Brothers Big Sisters, Port of Olympia Citizens Advisory Committee, and the South Puget Sound Community College Foundation. He was an active member and council member at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.

He liked talking shop with TCSA members and helping other tribes succeed. His vision for what TCSA could become helped us move from being a Pacific Northwest-based entity to a non-profit with 54 member tribes in 11 states. We will miss you immensely, Chris.
